I put 700 miles on the new ECM reflash today through all kinds of conditions and roads. Bike runs excellent. Gas mileage is pretty consistent at 36-38mpg per tank. I used to get about 34-35, so it has come up about 2mpg. I'm real happy with the new found power I have. Did a lot of passing of slower vehicles today on two lane roads, and it really helped having the extra acceleration.

Has Don done enough testing and so forth to have a finished "product" for the 1800?

Testing

Fred,
Are you running 87 octane or have you stepped up to 89 or 91? With the extra timing, I'd expect a little pinging if you didn't increase your octane.

Still runing 87. No evidence of pinging that I can detect. I also pulled the plugs and checked them.

Plus

Fred,
You may want to try a few tanks of plus and/or premium just to see if there are any more ponies hiding in there

MPG savings is about .7% so at current prices the upgrade will pay for itself once you've run 1,300 gallons thru it. That's 50,000 miles at 38mpg.

Did you have to do the cold start where you don't touch the throttle after the fans kick on for it to learn the new ecm.
