GL2Way CB and GMRS Radio - Hideous Squeal

Greetings!

When I have my GL2Way set to use both the CB and the GMRS radio at the same time, everyone on the CB side hears a loud, piercing squeal when I xmit. The squeal is there even if I disconnect the GMRS radio. I have to disconnect the cable to the GMRS to make the squeal go away.

Suggestions? Would a ferrite on the GMRS cable help?

Best Regards,
Lee E. Brown

When I first installed my GL2Way, any time I pushed the transmit button, there was a horrible squeal. I even had Pete on the phone trying to help me sort it out. In the end, it turned out what the problem was the little black box thing (yes, I know all the technical jargon and names for components) that was some inline component of the GL2Way was lying against my J&M Bluetooth unit. It was the simple fact they were touching in the trunk subcompartment that was causing it. The instant I separated them, and only by an inch or so, all the squealing stopped.

It's possible that my situation was unique, but it's worth a look. Keep that little square thingy away from everything else.

If I wasn't at work, 20 miles from my bike, I could be more specific. Sorry about that.

Yes if you unplug the cable and the noise stops put two filters on the FRS cable wrapped a few times it should stop

Because your GL2WAY is kicking out a fair amount of power the cable can become a kind of reception antenna

I presume you mean ferrite filters? Are these something that I can purchase from you? If so, please let me know.

They should be available at Radio Shack, or you can cut them off of old CRT input cables.

Thanks for the tip! I wasn't sure what size I would need so I ordered one of each. I hope this fixes it.
