Zumo 595 mounting advice ?

Yes I am seriously considering buying a overpriced Zumo 595 mainly because its waterproof and the cool as heck curvy road feature. It supposedly comes with everything needed to easily mount it on the wing ?

You'll be better off with a RAM ball and arm mount than the universal things that it comes with.

If you use a BT headset you'll be set. If not, audio integration will be a bother.

Lots of threads with lots of different options.

I mounted my G595lm onto my windshield vent designed to mount your gps up in front and center of you. I did use the ram mount and used a multi swivel ram mount to align my g595lm to height and angle that suits me. I hard wired into my bike and did some modifications to the left pocket allowing the usb-audio in/out-microphone cables to be stored in the pocket via opening drilled and grommet to protect cables. I also grinded down the small peg that holds the cable to helmet now being shared with the g595lm power lead beside and under the plastic left pocket.
I used Velcro cable ties to route the cable from the box to the g595lm. Works for me.

You will really like the various features, I also added the tire sensors for the GL1800 & my Bushtec trailer all monitored via the G595lm. I also enjoy the one time subscription for the live traffic and weather features. So far I'm getting oriented to it's many features. The BT between my Sena 20s & G595lm has been flawless to date.

So does Garmin's mount work with a RAM ball and arm ? That what I'm currently using with my Nuvi but had to buy a speacial RAM cradle that fit the Nuvi.

The 595 comes with a RAM ball connector that attaches to the 595 motorcycle cradle. The you can attach the it using an arm to any other RAM ball mount to the bike.

I install my 595LM connected to a Sena 20s. My Android phone and media stream connect to the 595. The first 300 miles was a learning curve. The audio quality (at least for my 68 year old ears) was great.

The 595 comes with all of the RAM mounting hardware that is needed for the Wing and also suction cup and lighter adapter to mount in auto. Till the end of month it is $200 off the MAP price.

Unfortunately I missed out on the $699 sale price, luckily my old gps still works so I will wait for another sale price to come along. The one year Garmin warranty seems pretty short for such an expensive gps but I called Discover card and if I use that to buy it they will automatically extend the warranty for another year. I wonder how many other credit cards have a feature like that built in ?

Got this from Garmin 2 days ago. They have permanently reduced the price on the 595 to $799 and the 395 to $499
