Cant change tracks - intermittent RE: previous email

Hi John,

I have researched and read a lot of reviews on J&M and other vendor products that were similar and discovered that there have been a lot of issues with interfacing to the Honda GL1800 OEM Radio/Amp. (Especially 2001-2005 Models)

Well, all of those reviews were for older versions of these products. I understand that I am one of the first owners of this new "E" revision box, with Bluetooth functionality included.

I am impressed with your product so far and intend to create a comprehensive product review after using it for month or two for my fellow Goldwingers on multiple forums.

I have installed and used the JMDM-GL18E for a few weeks now and am quite pleased with the unit's basic performance.

The only problem is the lockups (cant change tracks or switch to radio and back) that occur while riding. These clear up after ignition is turned off and back on. I am very much aware of the GL1800 (2001-2005) radio BUS problems and do not fault your product.

I will create a handlebar mounted reset button (NC Momentary disconnect button) that will reset power to the unit). Can you tell me which lead on the J&M unit (pin and color code) would provide this power reset? If we keep our fingers OFF the ASEL button and have a reset button that can be accessed while riding, this unit is then PERFECT !!! It's my understanding that the power reset can also act as a HOLD button, resuming right where the song left off. Once I Test and prove this solution, I will provide help for other members here so they can have a workaround for this aggravating bug.

Note: I have formatted and loaded 8GB, 4GB and lastly 2GB USB Flash memory with 45 MP3 songs on the root and CD2-CD6 folders with 45 songs each. I also tested with ALL MP3's at 96kbps (low) bitrate, with same results. Lock ups occur equally on all these configs.

Waiting for your reply. Thank you, John
