Where I live in ND we don't need plates on small trailers like snowmobile, boat and small cargo trailers. I was in Manitoba many years back pulling a small home made cargo trailer with my bike. A RCMP came by and burned rubber making a u turn to catch me and stop me. Wrote me a ticket for no license on the trailer. Lucky for me, my folks where ahead of me and stopped up the road a few miles at a gas stop waiting for me to catch up and have lunch. While having lunch I started to watch boat trailers going by and none had plates. I had the guy at the gas stop call the RCMP and the same Mounty showed up. I told him about the boat trailers and he called his boss who relayed the story higher up. Well, turns out ND and MB have a agreement that they honor the others vehicle laws. He tore up my ticket, gave me his card and said if I had any more problems to call him. He also apoligized because he was not familar with that rule and wished us well on our fishing and camping trip. I have not been back to Manitoba since and don't plan on it soon. I ride into Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, SD, Colorado, and so on with no problems.
