Moving to Yuma

My girl friend and I are relocating to Yuma in Oct. of 2017. I let my GWRRA membership expire. Is the group in Yuma strong? I would consider renewing if so.

I will have to change my name from LarryinSeattle@yahoo.com to LarryinYuma@yahoo.com

I have three motorcycles and two vehicles registered in Washington State. I am interested in estimated costs of licensing.

2002 Honda Goldwing 1800
2006 Honda Silverwing 600cc
2011 Honda PCX 125cc

2015 Ford Focus
2008 Ford Ranger

Motorcycles:
2002 1800 ABS Wing
2006 Honda 600cc Silverwing Scooter

GL1800Riders removes the time and distance between like minded individuals.

Can't help you with GWRRA. I gave up on them years ago. Arizona hits you with a vehicle tax calculated on the value of what you register. It decreases every year so a New vehicle will hit you hard. You pay it every year. You can find the formula that they use on the DMV website.. Welcome to Arizona..

@Clamper to the white courtesy phone....

(The 'RA question)

Estimate on the registration for all of that? $500

You may be shocked at the insurance rates, however...

Overall your going to be in financial utopia. Big difference in the cost of living in the two locations.

According to an online cost of living comparison you can maintain your standard of living with a 28% reduction in income.

A few years ago friend of mine moved from MI to Casa Grande. He said that insurance for his GL1800 was $1000.00 because only one company in AZ would insure motorcycles.

Still true?

He has since moved to NC.

thats not true..... at least the part about only one insurance company will cover motorcycles.

I'm actually not sure what I pay just for my GL..... but we pay around 3000/year for:

2 3/4 ton trucks..... one high mileage oldish 2005 and one newish 2013 diesel 4 door.
1 historic army truck..... insured as collector car.... real cheap. ..... by the same insurer.
1 car..... brand new Subaru Outback.
1 2013 Gl1800 motorcycle,
1 2008 quad ATV,
1 2011 travel trailer RV.

We are actually in the process of buying my wife a new Subaru Outback and was quoted about 950 per year for the new car. The 3000 per year cost above includes the new car.

I carry an insurance value significantly higher than the required minimum for Arizona.

My insurance company loves me..... we support her high flying lifestyle.

larryinyuma@yahoo.com is now active but I won't switch over until I actually move down in Sept or October.

We are excited about the move.

Thanks for the information.

I have always Insured and Titled my bike in CA and now ID. If you live
in the town of Yuma, sales Tax can be 11.25 or 12.25 per cent and the foothills is
in the County and I think we pay 8 or 9 per cent. City of Yuma added 2 cents
for Parks and Rec. But I think it went into the general fund.
And Property tax is higher in the County of Yuma than CA or ID.
Groceries, gas and movies are less.
Prices for anything but Starbucks is less than what I pay in Idaho. Guess it
costs more to ship the syrup down there. Liberty Honda charges full boat
plus for anything, so you have to ride or trailer to Phoenix for dealer work.
See ya down there next season.
P.S. If you bought in the Foothills we get a wake up between 8:30 and 9 am
on occasion from the Marines in F-35's or whatever there up flying around in
and sometimes you can get the pilot to wave back at you while your coffee rattles
around your cup. (G)

I was quoted $335.00 a year three or four years ago, but CA would give me a hassle if I switched then rode around CA for six months a year and I was getting a good rate from Progressive while in CA and now in ID and AZ never says anything because of all the snowbirds.

The Marines fly the F-18 Super Hornet.

The F-35 is at Luke AFB near Phoenix.
