This is another plus to all the water we got this year!

Anyone looking for a smaller but similar experience closer to Northern California can take a ride down Highway 25 South of Hollister. I got a chance to go through there on Sunday and the colors are just starting to pop. On the other hand, I haven't seen that much Green in years. These last few weeks of heavy rain make the valley just beautiful Green. A bonus was that every little stream along the road were flowing, and all the ponds out in the pastures were full of water. THAT hasn't happened in a decade or more.

Rode 200 miles in a loop from Hollister South to King City, through the canyon to Carmel Valley, to Pebble Beach, through Monterey and back home.
I put my best friend on a borrowed bike and let him get his legs back (licensed, but hadn't ridden in 15 years or more).
Really, really needed that.
Great ride.

Just my $.02.

Just a FYI

I did that Desert Bloom ride a few weeks back and we sat in traffic for about 2 hour trying to get to the bottom of the S2... Well all were coasting our bikes in 80+ temp and when you got to town it was just packed and hot we had to ride the bike lanes to get to a fuel station. Now C.H.P. have manned the one little 4-way stop at the bottom of the S2. I hope that will fix the issue.

WOW!!! that town of Borrego Springs was Packed.

Back when I used to ride there (the late 70's) if there was two cars in the round-about at the same time, we considered it "packed."
We would camp out in the Anza-Borrego desert somewhere along Pole Line Road, just East of Ocotillo Wells, and ride through the washes and race up "Sand Hill." Wow... those were some days.
