Can the F6 windshield go up and down like the GL?
Can one travel long distance just as comfortable on either one?
Can a F6 be made to have the same great wind management and comfort.
Is the front end of the F6 actually higher than the GL or does it just look like that?
Is the front fairing for the F6 exactly the same as the GL?

Do I need a GL or can I get by with a F6?

Define "long distance." If it includes multi-days, you'll miss the trunk, especially if you're not pulling a trailer.

Regarding sitting lower, there are options for that.

Regarding amenities, depends on you. If traveling long and over multiple days, you may desire those GL amenities despite the added weight of the GL. There are options for dealing with added weight of a GL (parking lot practice, weight training, losing weight, lowering the bike might make it feel lighter, etc).

Interesting dilemma. Please let us know what you decide. Good luck.

Uncle,

Can you give me more specifics on the 'Wing trunk removal' outfit you mention here.
When I google Mbl I get the Major Baseball League. I was going to call them but I don't trust athletes with long hair and baggy pants working on my bike.

Does anyone got a pic of a trunkless Goldwing?

Obviously Honda built the F6 for people like you that wanted, cheaper, lighter, more sporty and don't carry a passenger so they didn't need the nice backrest and trunk.

That being the case, it might be a good fit for you if you can live without some of the stuff that is only on the Wing.

As far as the F6 being lower....I'm not sure that is true but if it is, it's not a good thing IMO. I've done a lot to raise my GL1800 to give it a bit more clearance in the corners. I definitely wouldn't want it lower...but that's just me.

Here is their site..

But... I don't think they make the trunk conversion kit anymore since the F6B came out. You could contact them and see if they had one that was unsold from before...

[QUOTE=2WheelNut;4064577]Obviously Honda built the F6 for people like you that wanted, cheaper, lighter, more sporty and don't carry a passenger so they didn't need the nice backrest and trunk.

I carry my wife on my F6B.
I have a backrest with an extension that brings it up.
My wife has no issues.
I had her on a full wing and she did not like it.
She felt she was too cramped.
She also said the seat on my F6B was more comfortable than the full wing she road on with me.
As far as a trunk, I use a rack with a Viking lockable bag.
It holds about 3/4 as a full wing trunk.
That works for her and I.

Glad it works for you but it wouldn't work as well for me.

My wife loves the rear seat of the wing. A backrest is good, but she likes the wrap around effect. With the Wing, she's good for 300+ miles a day although she's been known to fall asleep back there in her lounge chair.

In reality, I own the Wing for her. I tell everyone it's her bike and I'm just the chauffeur.

Sorry...jumped the gun a bit there. Glad they are still making the kit. Probably a small market but it's a neat product if you want that look and already have a Wing.
