Gents,
If I recall, it was/is the 2012 or newer years that have the "better" rear spring/shock system, correct? If so, I keep an eye out for a "take-off" but, they get snapped up pretty quickly. Now, a question or two. #1, just EXACTLY WHAT is better about the '12s or newer, in the shock department? If I recall, the springs made prior to the 2012 models are somewhere around what, 900 lb. springs? And, the '12s or newer are rated at what, 1000 - 1200 lbs or so? I need clarification on all those figures. #2, I hear and read about Progressive or other companies that produce UPGRADED rear suspension with their own parts? If so, what's the specs on those and, #3, how do they compare to just picking up (if you can find one and, are present when it goes for sale) a 2012 model shock and spring? #4, is it worth just picking up a '12 or newer spring and upgrading the present shock to a stainless braided line? #5, how about a spring from Progressive or, Traxxion or, any other company? Are they as good or, better or equal to a '12 or later spring?
I have not done the shock pre-load test to see just where the bike/shock starts to rise or, a change in motor sound occurs to see where I stand (or where the bike stands I should say) yet. I need to do that before getting serious on this stuff. Our bike is an '08 with 31K on the clock and, we're (the wife and I) are not the lightest couple to be on a Wing. So, needless to say, we're taxing that suspension.
I sure would like to see some sort of AIR suspension that could simply be BUMPED UP by the momentary addition of some input of air. That would accomodate an additional load and, when only a single rider is present, the just release some air and, it's back down to a good ride for a single rider. Just dreaming. Anyway, if I could get as much info before I shell out some coin for whateve way I lean, I'd appreciate it. Thanks
Scott
