DCT is a waste of time on an otherwise out of date bike. Why bother when the engine and chassis and suspension are all out of date?

That's why it is a total redesign. There have been a number of patent filings which show a wing like bike. Those patents include a new front suspension (leading link?) and automated windscreen (up / down).

There are a number of other items and yes, DCT is one of them. Also, total updated electronics.

My sources are various Internet sites (yes, I know, the Internet CAN'T be wrong!). But also, I've talked to some Honda folks.

However, my plan is still to purchase a touring bike in 2018. IF Honda doesn't redesign the Gold Wing then I'll likely go with BMW, it is just soooo much more advanced. Although I "hate" to get the first year production of any vehicle, I did it for the GL1800 (and had a number of recalls and some unsolved longer term issues) but 2018 is when I plan to get a bike soooooo.

Well I know I will never by another manual clutch bike again. I put 23k miles on my nc700 the last 15 months, it is so much fun.

Next wing I buy will have dct, whether it be in 2018 or 2028.

Yes, I know real bikers like clutches and kick starters, but I am a candy a$$.

Some time this year I will move from the nc to the Africa twin dct.

I'm scared to ride the Africa Twin. Scared that I'll love it and want it! Heard GREAT things about it. But, they are in short supply.

My cleaning lady's cousins brother-in-law knows a guy who heard from a dude that knows someone that there will be a 2018 Goldwing. And you can take that to the bank!

I'm not loyal to Honda.....I'm very happy with my 2013 GL ..... it's met or exceeded all my expectations. I will likely shop again in another 4-5 years. When I do, I will survey the landscape of bikes and buy whatever I perceive as being the best value. So it's up to Honda to do their best if they want me to buy another. The balls in their court. I don't lose any sleep over it.

Not for Goldwing yet. Only for a few other bikes - but all Honda.
