Not only motorcycle parts on the rise everything is. I could go on my rant but it would turn political so I'll refrain. lol

I understand inflation, but this is way beyond that. Looks more like price gouging to me.

Maybe just smart planning at work here. The dealers are very aware that there are literally thousands of older GL1800's still out here and the more miles they rack up the greater the probability that the alternators will start wearing out. So raising the prices means they'll be soon making lots of extra money for alternator repairs. Guess you could consider that my conspiracy theory.

Yea, except I don't think you can blame the dealers, since Honda Corporate sets the MSRP on it's parts.

I have not seen the prices yet, but the price increases on the Tupperware parts a few years back when they abandoned USA production twas well beyond malarkey, me lad. Will likely be ALL parts.

Comment by prs edited out by prs because it was political and off topic. Sorry about that.

Yes crazy high ! luckily I bought a brandnew spare to carry when they were a little over $300, a few years ago I had to install that one but last year managed to buy another brandnew but never installed alternator from a board member for I think $250.

Partzilla lists:

ALTERNATOR ASSY., FLYWHEEL TYPE
31100-MCA-700
$444.80
$305.80

I replaced mine several years ago and it was not much less then IIRC, maybe 230.00.

Now, consider this, the small, simple cast ABS piece that has the little nubbin on it to fasten the engine side cover that we remove to add oil:

COVER, L. INJECTION
83565-MCA-000
$378.27
$260.06

Holy piracy, Batman! By weight, that may be more expensive than gold.
