[QUOTE=tberger53;4289145]That's a good idea, I just don't understand how a brand new battery could be bad.

Same thing I thought - it frustrated the heck out of me, I checked fuses, charged battery - it showed to have 12 yo 14 volts
- but when battery was put under load the voltage would drop and would not turn starter over - guy at the shop said it happens sometimes, once I put the replacement in everything worked fine

You need to have a load test done on the battery before you do anything else.

Last week I was washing/waxing bike.. when I was done, and proud of myself for keeping the bike all clean and shiny..
I went to start bike (Gulp!) nothing! Shi# My uneasy kicked in.. ok what happened? I checked the kill switch... it was off, I musta hit it when washing... clicked it back on, hit the starter brrrrrrroom bike started...... WHAT A GREAT FEELING!

Check your starter button....... just in case!

Easier test would be to make sure it's in neutral, then remove the starter cable(red/white striped in the diagram above) from the B relay and touch it to the battery's positive post. If the starter cranks, then it's not the battery.

I'm at the Roger's Ride-In this weekend, but I'll try this next weekend. Thanks.

One step forward ... TWO STEPS BACK!!!
I got back from the Rogers Ride-In and decided to pull the battery out of my '08 Wing and try it in the '02 Wing. IT WORKED!
But when I turned off the ignition, the starter kept running. I'm assuming that means my new battery is bad, but why does the starter keep running? Does that mean my new oem relays are bad, or did I install them incorrectly.
HELP -Tim

Does that mean I need to get new relays again? Did trying to start the bike with a bad battery cause the relay to fail.
Thanks

At least we know the starter is not dead. Don't know about your new battery, but either the "A" starter relay is bad, or your wires/cables are crossed up. Doubt it's the relay, but brand new parts can show up bad these days. Do you have anyone from the board living close to you that can put a second set of eyes on it?

I know it's difficult diagnosing this online and I appreciate everyone's effort.
I have yet to find anyone local that can help.
I could have it towed to the Honda shop, but I just don't have the money to do that right now.
