Changes the amount of travel of the lever vs. the actuation. Or in other words, helps configure for large or small hands. You can determine the difference by pushing out on the lever then rotate the number wheel to 1 - then with the engine running pull the handle in fully and place in gear. Then slowly let out the lever and see when the clutch starts to engage. Then put in neutral, push the lever out and rotate the wheel to 5. Repeat the above test.
You want the lever to fully disengage the clutch when pulled in, and fully engage when released, as adjusted for your particular grip reach. Addition of kury grips, grip puppies or anything else that changes the diameter of your grip may require an adjustment of the lever wheel setting.
