Greetings to the Tech Forum,
I installed a Big Bike Parts "Rear Brake Light Conversion" wire harness (Part Number 52-812) on my 2012 Honda Goldwing. It's a simple "plug & play" wire harness that's supposed to turn the running light above the license plate, into a running/light brake light, per the video found in this URL:
I installed it EXACTLY the way it showed, and I know I have power, because my top trunk spoiler brake light works. The only thing I changed prior to the wire harness install, was to replace all 6 of my incandescent brake light bulbs with Pathfinder red LEDs, which work great as either running lights or dual filement brake lights.
The Big Bike Parts wire harness adds a 3rd (center) power lead to the referenced above license plate running light power plugs. The idea is, when one activates either the hand or foot brake, that 3rd lead is supposed to energize the center wire in the (dual) filament bulb to make the bulb go full bright so one has a brake light. The Pathfinder LEDs are a one-for-one swap. No modification required. When I pull the hand brake, the spoiler & saddlebag brake lights activate, and I get no change whatsoever from the running light.
Any suggestions from anyone who may have done the exact same thing?
