I recomend stopping at the tourist information place at the start of the Alaska hwy, they will give you a free printout that shows all the gas, food, motels and other services along the Alaska hwy by mile marker, that printout pretty much eliminates any need to worry about gas, there are plenty of gas stations .

The printout is only one or two pages, the mile post is more like a couple hundred pages, I prefer the one or two page printout it's much simpler and don't take up much space.

The fun part is coming!

Now that you are down to your last bit of planning....
when you are reading the Milepost, you will find different listings of some fun things to do. when my wife and I were planning our trip, I put some sticky notes out the side edge (to be easy to find) when I read something I thought was fun, my wife did the same. An easy way to plan for some enjoyment as well as enjoy what you find as you go.

I had access to an old Milepost (but you can do the same by copying) and made copies of maps for particular segments of the trip. I could see the big picture layout with the current day map in a tankbag, and keep my Zumo set to a tighter frame.

you are going to have a blast, enjoy!
