round lake michigan

I posted on the Michigan section, but thought I may get more responses here.
My brother and I are going to ride from Illinois around Lake Michigan in early June.
I would like any and all information from any of you that have ridden this ride.
places to stay, eat, gas, things to see, etc.
thanks

Doug

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

Garage
I've been around it several times, but has been some time ago so I don't remember names of motels. However, there are a lot of mom and pop clean ones. One place I suggest to visit is the http://www.shipwreckmuseum.com/ . It is very awe inspiring. The day we visited it the wind was blowing hard off of Lake Superior and added flavor to the visit.

I've been around once back in '03, the roads were horrible, so they have to better for you. We ended up going up to Municing and running the south shore of Superior roads because they were rideable. Sydney's sharks bay bar was a fun place, back then, good food then too. That was also when we were camping on trips, so we stayed in a campground on the shore of Superior and let the water lapping onto the shore lull us to sleep. Camping in lower Michigan wasn't memorable, I think we stayed in state-campgrounds/parks/or something. I didn't find to much excitement on the trip around, partially because I didn't plan it. I would be sure to visit every lighthouse if I do it again. I expect a full report with photo's (really, I'm just spoiled with the recent trip reports, you do what you want) for us that can't go.

Either 3 days 2 nights or 4 days 3 nights if there is enough to see.

I have done the Great Lake circle Twice . Lake Michigan 3 times . The first time there is plenty to do and see. Stop at state welcome centers and tell them you specific interests . 3 days easily 4 days is doable with less miles and more sight seeing . Be warned the weather around the lakes changes rapidly and can get cold and ugly quickly . I do not think I ever did it without rain at some point .

What I need is actual route/road numbers around the lake.
When I go to the sites they actually give you about 50 different roads.
Then tell you in a notation that some of these are incorrect.
I would appreciate the actual road numbers/route some of you took.

It's a nice trip with many optional routes to choose from, another option is to take a boat ride across and avoid Chicago, I have never done the boat ride but it sure does sound interesting.

Where do I find information on the routes?
All I find is conflicting generalized information without actual road numbers.
The Michigan site even says that the information on other sites is wrong.
Then they proceed to state that the roads are no longer marked.

If u want one specific route maybe it would be easier for u to ride around Lake Superior , they have a route marked all the way around the lake, I think it's about 1,300 miles, Jammer and I did it a couple years ago, took about 3 days.
