hitch recommendations

i just joined the forum because i don't know many people my age that have a wing and i would like advice. i bought my 2012 xm/navi in feb of 2015 with only 2000 miles on it. i have about 25,000 on it now and would have had more but the wife and just got married in Hawaii last year during the time frame we usually take a 3-4k motorcycle trip(dont worry i rented a bike on Maui and road everywhere so no two wheel withdraw). i was 27 when i bought my wing and a lot of friends my age looked at me weird when i told them what bike i bought. I LOVE MY WING! so i could care less.

back to the advice

i am looking for pros and cons of the hitches that will fit on my 2012 wing

i only want advice of people that have taken them on <2500 mile trips

let the comments fly

Cool Bushtec Hitch (Deluxe)

This is the second Bushtec Hitch I've had on two wings. The first went from Georgia to the Great State of Washington twice without any issues. These attach to the frame of the bike and become part of the frame. Others mount to the Saddle Bag stays and I would NEVER pull anything with one of those... IMO

I installed the bushtec hitch on my 2012 when I bought it new. We have been to Canada and several trips in between over some extremely rough roads without a single problem.

I have towed Neosho Trailer and now a Bushtec with the Bushtec hitch on my Wing. Longest trip was was about 15,000 miles. No problems!

The Bushtec hitch is mounted to the main frame of the bike and not to the rear subframe like some hitches. I think this is the safest way to go and has worked for me with over 80,000 miles towing a trailer.

I went with the Deluxe Ball because of the mud flap and the 1 7/8" ball. My trailer uses the standard style "Ball" hitch. The Pin hitch is for a Bustec Trailer that uses that style hitch.

I have had my 04 since it was new, it has 107 K mi on it, I have a hitch from Big Bike I believe, its been on there for 12 yrs, I tow a Bushtec Turbo+II, the longest trip was 6 Kmi from NJ to S.Dakota, Wyo, Montana, Wyo, S, Dakota, Bear Tooth, Chief Joseph, in Colo we rode Trail Ridge Rd. I've been all over..
I tow the trailer on every overnite trip I go on, even when I go solo on a 1500 mi trip..doin 75-80 mph all day. so you make the call..buy what you want..
You can do the job for $180 or spend $400 ??? up to you..

on my 1500 and 1800 i put a kuryakyn hitch on. the 1800 did not fasten to the bags and was an easdy install. The 1800 hitch was vertical hitch snd when receiver was not in you couldn't tell i had one.

When you have one, ride it. If you have one and don't ride it, whats the point.
