What is the base color of your bike?? Is it the black? I don't think you are going to be able to paint just the bags and have it look right.

My wife has the black 2013, and I painted all the plastic, except the molding around the radio and light controls on the front cowl. This includes all of the flat black, "bare" plastic on the bags, side molding, "T" panel in the back. I also painted everything that was the crappy factory paint, and it has 3 coats of clear coat. So now, the whole bike is a Black Pearl metallic (gold flake).

With it being lowered for her 5'2" stature, custom Day Long Seat, Cobra pipes, and a few other things, she gets a lot of people looking at her bike.

It seems the plastic saddlebags and side covers would be a great candidate to perform the water transfer printing process on with maybe a clearcoat finish.... somebody on this board did some side covers not too long ago in a carbon composite pattern..... they looked great.

This isn't the best photo but it is a hydro dipped transmission cover that is clear coated after the dip operation. I went with carbon fiber but there are thousands of possibilities. Just offering this solution because it works great on plastic.
