In another Arizona fire, a 2-acre blaze that started at a motorcycle salvage yard and spread to a trailer park has destroyed five mobile homes in the Gila County community of Rye, located more than 130 miles east of Yarnell.
I knew the owner and his family pretty well. I had fears that other friends had lost their homes which are pretty close to All Bikes, but their properties escaped the carnage.
Scary stuff, especially with the overnight loss of 19 Hotshots in Yarnell.
How's the fire scene in Rim Country? Lived there for nearly 40 years before relocating to NW Missouri.

I had heard about the Rye fire and did see a picture. The Yarnell Hill fire was quite a tragedy.....I had to delay a flight to Prescott due to several pop up thunderstorms in the area. They intensified and moved S/SW which may have contributed to the wind shift that trapped the firefighters. On the flight to Prescott I did observe lightning toward the west. This morning the visibility is crap due to smoke and haze. I was in Colorado last week and several roads were closed due to firefighting efforts up there.
Tragic news about those deceased firefighters. The entire Western US is nothing but a tinderbox. I have a friend in PA and they have had pretty much non-stop rain & flooding for days with very little relief in sight. I guess its a case of "feast or famine".
Now we have fires near Kingman & Globe too. Early morning rain too far away from fire area. Pray for rain soon, and prayers for the families of the fallen Firefighters.
Road past the Rye fire today. 50% total ashes and more than that damaged...it's a shame. Although I never got any deals on any parts that we tried to sort and purchase.
How tragic to see a mans passion go up in smoke. My heart goes out to Ron and his family. This just points out that you should do things NOW rather than wait for a more opportune time. I've ridden and driven by All Bikes too many times and didn't stop to meander around this piece of history. Now I won't get the chance.

Hell of a collection, though, but now, it's only half a collection.
