Our little group went for a ride yesterday in our near perfect February weather. We decided to do another one of those pack a lunch picnic runs to visit a destination I have driven by my whole life but never bothered to stop and visit. This time it was Tonto National Monument adjacent to Roosevelt lake. Indian cliff dwelling ruins which we love to visit.
We all loved it. Great ride from Tucson here and the picnic area at the monument was very nice and clean . I would recommend this destination for anybody in the area.
A little hike is required to the available lower ruins (hour round trip). A longer 1/2 day hike requires reservations for an upper ruin that is twice the size and better preserved.
We seen a lot of bikes rolling yesterday. A lot of folks out enjoying the great weather and scenery around that area.
No funds were needed for hotels or restaurants for this fantastic riding experience. It's called a RTP (Ride to Picnic)
