Almost got wing back together and I decided to check all those electrical connections before final button up.
:surprise: holy crap nothing worked except headlights, horn, display on acc, and weirdly enough rear suspension adjustment . So I went into full mental mode . Tore off top shelter , disconnected every connection I could find , double doubled checked all connections , even thought about removing gas tank again , than something Mike posted years ago clicked . He stated that when battery is dead due to alternator bad the radio is first thing to go .,that lead my little brain to my maintenance mentor John (rip) pounded into me , simple first , always , everytime , and never over look . Simple first . 8.3 volts FYI will not display anything on screen but will on Acc. Just sayin . Now another pot of coffee seems right .
Whew , these wings are such a PIA to work on . Way too much crap . Way .
I should have taken a selfie , as I am sure smoke was coming from ears and eyes where rolling faster than a slot machine . >:)

so are u going to be buying a new battery ? My first battery lasted over 200,000 miles but it has needed replacing 3 times since then, last time I bought the precharged from the factory version hopeing for better luck this time. All my old batteries seemed to be working fine but load test said they needed replacing so that's what I did.

2011 this one is . Will load test and go from there . I agree OEM batteries are always way better for some reason.

Actually that very good info here, cause my bike has been in the trike shop for the past six + months now and I'm sure it (battery) has not been maintained at all like I always do using a trickle charger..
I just got a call that my bike is now ready (new trike kit installed)...
The installer will B delivering the bike back to me soon.. (can't waite/getting excited)
I believe I should just purchase another NEW battery and install it prior to a new riding season April first...........

Yepppppppppppppp Peeeeeeee let a new riding season begin w/ me on a trike!

Don't you just hate that when it happens?

The 1800 is actually easy to work on it's the 1500 that is a real pain. In fact I will say the 1500 is by far the hardest bike of any to work on and I have worked on most.
I see an 1800 come in and I just say wheew at least I can work with this. :)

I must have wrenched on too many 1500's as I understood them quite well. I am getting to the point where the 1800's are becoming quite familiar now . But still a lot going on that I do not fully understand yet . I sure do love the simplicity of my KLR and old xl250r ,,,,,a lot .
I am willing to bet I had my 1500 apart for modifications 50 times min. I truly loved the 1500's as the touring bike they were meant to be . I had mine hot rodded pretty well. As far as bored , head work , carbs , and suspension . It's still running around my area here with 265k miles and running strong . It sure needed to be opened up to breath better got 5 mpg better hinestly after all was said and done ,,,,,if I rode like I was going for milage. Was never a fan though of the balancing the carbs . Fuel injected was my much needed improvement on the 1800's
