IMPORTANT SMOKY MOUNTAIN RIDE IN UPDATES

REMEMBER - ALL INFORMATION IS ON THE WEB AT http://jkgraphics.com/smoky.html

I was going to print feedback forms, but decided to go green, as electrons are 100% recycleable. So, there is a feedback form at:

http://jkgraphics.com/Eagle/smoky_feedback.html

that you can display, copy into an email and send back to me after the event. Please help us for 2010!

To guarantee the success of this event, it is of utmost importance that everyone attending take care of these matters as soon as possible

  • T-Shirts from Smoky Mountain Graphics: Call James at 828-488-8384 and place your orders for shirts. The color of the shirt is the color of the bike. OK, you signed up for shirts to indicate if it was worth his while. James has waived the set up costs and is providing shirts from $10 and up. Let’s not disappoint him. If you ordered a shirt, call him now and place your order. Credit cards are accepted. Order by June 10.

  • Embroidered shirts from PA Embroidery: Call 717-376-0609 to place your order. These are dressier but more expensive polo shirts. Pay for your order now to get it done by June 10, tell them to let me pick it up and you can save the shipping costs – I’ll bring the shirts to Bryson City - pick up in lobby of Ridge Top Motel.

  • Fish Fry: A Friday night event to raise money for children for Christmas. The sponsors want just $5 for a fish dinner; I’d give them $10 for that! They need a commitment of how many will attend, so reply to this post if you WILL ATTEND. That way, we’ll keep this near the top. Otherwise, I’ll just have to bump it myself and make bad jokes!

  • Discount Card: The merchants are talking about handing everyone who attends a discount ID card and a list of places to visit. More on this to come.

  • Smoky Mountain RR: While the RR provides group discounts, we are not signing up groups at this time. I’ve let them know about the discount ID card.

  • Saturday PM BBQ: This is a pay at the door event and from those signed up so far, it looks like we will fill the place as long as everyone who has signed up shows up.

  • Morning place to meet for rides: We are scouting out a flat parking lot that is conveniently located so that those who want to ride out in a group will have a place to meet. Arrive to leave at 9 AM – full tank of gas & empty bladder.

Here’s the bottom line: The success of this gathering depends upon what we do in the next week or so, especially with ordering shirts from James in Bryson City, attending the Fish Fry and BBQ. Unlike other gatherings, there is no upfront money being collected, and that can be a problem if we do not follow through on what we said we were going to do. I’m going down early to talk with the merchants to try to see if I can get them to help promote this event for next year. This means that items to be ordered go straight to the vendor. I’ll be trying to book all the rooms at Ridge Top and Microtel for 2010. This has the potential to grow to a week long event for those who take week long vacations. After talking with Gary, I can tell you that the local merchants see the value in us coming and excitement is high. Let’s not disappoint them.

Finally, I will be redoing the website at http://jkgraphics.com/smoky.html to reflect the latest information. Check back and check often. Let’s get this wrapped up by June 1, although latecomers are still welcome.

Table for 2 at the Fish Fry, please. :eat2::eat2:

Maybe we can convince SlowJoe that the fish is really scallops. He's from Gaw-Jah..., he'll never know the difference.

And Fred, you're right about Joe's whining..., at Tybee Island he went on and on and on about scallops..., to the point I had to walk away and ignore him. And if I remember correctly, you even offered to send the wifey out to pickup some scallops, just to shut him up. ;)

Just kidding, Joe. I (ahem) enjoyed chatting with you.

Yeah..., that's the ticket..., enjoyed...
