i HAD A ACCESSORY PLUG INSTALL IN MY 05 GL1800 INSIDE THE RIGHT POCKET LAST SATURDAY, RODE IT TO WORK TODAY, WHEN i LEFT WORK FOR TODAY I noticed that my speedometer, idle and gas indicators were not
moving when i GAVE IT GAS. SO WHEN i GOT IT HOME i FOUND THE 15 AMP
FUSE WAS BLOWN, WHAT COULD BE CAUSING IT TO BLOW, i replaced the fuse but when i turn the ignition to on the fuse blew again. NEED HELP GOT TO GET IT FIXED BEFORE JULY. GOING OUT OF TOWN, ANYBODY HAD ANY PROBLEM LIKE THAT.:eek:4::banghead:

If you are talking about fuse #6, it is only a 5 amp fuse and should not be changed out to a 15 amp.(smoke) If you are refering to fuse #21, maybe your new power socket has a short. I would disconnect it and see if the fuse blows again. There is alot of stuff that runs off of that fuse, maybe you overloaded the circuit with something plugged into your new socket.

The best thing I can suggest is to think about all the parts you removed and re-installed and backtrack, looking for a wire that you may have pinched during re-assembly.

What circuit did you tie into for you accessory plug?

Fuse #5. Do you have a trailer harness on the bike? If so, that's the first place I would look for a short in the tail light circuit. After that, check out the green wire where it passes thru the large connector under the seat. It has been known to burn itself up and it is the ground for all of the rear lights on the bike. Goodluck

It appears that you have two unrelated problems, although they both may have been caused by the installation.

That accessory plug you used is for grip heaters. It ties into the same line that powers the ECU in the instrument cluster. Check fuse #21. That is what powers your instrument cluster, and would explain why you lost your gauges. Your trunk lock probably doesn't work either. Unplug the accessory socket to see if you still blow the fuse. I am guessing the wires on the accessory socket are shorted together somewhere, or the socket itself is resting up against something metal that is shorting it out.

Fuse#5 is an unrelated circuit. It is probably blowing due to a pinched wire.

Also check to see if the fog lamp relay(if you have fog lamps) is shorted or the switch to the fog lamps are bad, this will blow that fuse also.
Best way to check is to unplug the relay from the fog lamps and try a new fuse ,if it does not blow there's your problem. Good Luck
