In the summer, Scorpion EXO-110 half helmet, gloss black, with drop down sun visor.
At night, I change the tinted visor to clear.
Takes 30s to change out.
I hated the helmet law when it went into effect in 1992 (California). After that I wore the smallest helmet I could find, then traded up to a 1/2, then a 3/4, then a full face. Now I wear a modular in all seasons and can't imagine riding without it, although it does sometimes get almost unbearably hot. I feel naked even when I'm moving the across the yard without a helmet.
I wear an Arai full face regardless of temperature, tried the modular, and it didn't work at all for me. For those that choose not to wear, even for a short ride, in my opinion not a smart option. I've ridden half a million miles and never hit anything, then out of the clear blue sky a month ago I hit a car at darn close to 50mph 2 miles from home. My helmet had like a 6" long scrape on it. It was not like a really hard hit to the head, but 6" scrape on the head would have been rather painful, if not fatal. This was not on the GL1800 thankfully.
I have a couple of Scorpion 900 modulars that I like. I use them in the 3/4 configuration with the peak visor unless it gets too cold then I'll add the front. I can't stand driving into the sun with no visor to block it and this helmet also has a retractable internal visor. I don't ride without a helmet.
I had been wearing a 3/4 HJC helmet for the past few years. However, I have an upcoming trip from New Jersey to Alaska this summer so I just purchased a Schuberth C3Pro modular helmet for the trip because of the extra level of protection it affords.
I have a Modular Scorpian EXO-900 that is fine until the temps hit around 90 and the chin bar is swapped out for a visor and I'm good for an hour or too. The issue is I was a real idiot and got the cool looking matt black version; its not so cool! When I'm on the road for long runs I have a silver 3/4 Bell that is higlhy vented, very lite by comparison and has a large drop down visor and interior sun visor. I'll ride 8-9 hundred mile in 100+ heat with this helmet comfortably. Rarely do I ride without a lid; when I do its only a few blocks to dry out my helmet and hair while on a long trip or in my very rural neighborhood. One time down without a helmet will convince pretty much anyone that its worn for a purpose - I was very young, very quick in reaction time, in great shape and extremely lucky.
Arai Full Face - 100% of the time. My head is the only one I've got and a crash even at low speeds with anything less than full coverage is not a risk I'm willing to take, no matter which season it is
Modular Shoei Neotech for long open road rides , 1/2 helmet for around town
