Yeah... Came home late the other night. As I walked in the cat jumped off the computer desk and took off up the stairs.
I started checking things out and made a horrible discovery.
He had been on many kitty porn sites!!

Been there, done that

I've ridden Passo Stelvio on a BMW 1100 RT with my wife as a passenger. Beautiful ride, awesome to watch some of Italian riders do the switchbacks, two wheels around the tournante, then wheelie to the next turn, drop the front wheel, do the turn, back to a wheelie to the next turn until they get to the top. It is spine tingling to watch them. That pass is motorcycle nirvana. The top of the Pass is parked full of motorcyclists of all types with some beautiful sidecar rigs. That pass was one of about 30 passes we rode while riding the Alps.

OK I give up...where is that the map are showing ???
Top map is of the Glassglockner Pass in Austria... and the Canyon Dancer gave you a pretty good description of Passo del Stilvio in Italy.

I'm headed over there next month to ride a 5 country tour of the Alps... so I've been going over our projected route on maps. Can't wait!!

are you riding a bike on that route?????

That sounds like an awesome trip Tom!! Are ya doing the Munich area too? The "romantic roads" I hear are outstanding in both scenery and condition..

Always been my dream to do CentoPassi.. I've got an open invite to go with friends that work in the Piemonte region..
Are ya renting or shipping your bike?? I've got a friend that shipped his for a two week trip and it ended up being about the same price as a Ducatti rental.

Hey Dave...

I'm doing one of the Edelweiss Tours with the folks from Backroads magazine:

I know Brian & Shira (the publishers), and usually go to many of their rallies throughout the year. So when this trip was being planned last year, I figured now was the right time to go. Instead of just doing a tour with a bunch of people I don't know... why not go when most of the others on the tour would be friends that I've met on the other rallies?

The tour itself is simply the Edelweiss High Alpine Tour... which is 6 days of riding in Germany, Austria, Italy, Lichtenstein, and Switzerland.

As for the bike... no, not shipping mine. I wish. Just simply renting one of theirs: A BMW R1200 GS.

Munich is the starting/ending point for the tour (Erding, actually)... and I'm flying in 3 days before it starts. Got a friend who's working in Frankfort who's coming over to see me for a day, and then wanna check out the BMW Museum there too. I'm gonna take the 1-day Alps riding class that they offer on Sunday, and then the tour begins on Monday.

By the way... for those who've never seen pictures, here's what one part of those maps looks like: :D
