Just wondering how many of you have an SO that ride their own bikes? My wife will be taking the MSF Beginner course first weekend in Oct. I am excited to know she is taking the course and hope she does well......if she really wants to ride. She has filled out the paperwork several times but always chickened out prior to paying. This time..............she paid!:22yikes:
At least she will know after taking the course........if she really has the desire ride on her on or not.
I ride a trike and I enjoy driving it myself.....and riding.....she will do great...Good--Luck to her.....I would rather ride my trike than ride with my b/f....Hope she enjoys riding her own as much as I do......LOVE IT.....
My wife graduated from the MSF course at Long Beach CA in 1980, she has been riding her own bike ever sense. The last 5 yrs. she has been riding a DFT trike.
My wife learned to ride on my 01 Road King, took the course and bought a Honda 750, then she had two VTX 1800's and now rides a 07 Yamaha Stratoliner S a real sweet machine.
I've had two of my own. My first was an '89 Pacific Coast, which I stupidly sold, the second was a '97 Rebel, which was just too small for me and got sold to help with the new-house renovation fund. :? One day I'll have my own ride again, maybe another PC800, maybe a Spyder, who knows?
My wife was riding her own bike before I started to ride in 1981. But since the kids came along, she hasn't been on a bike -- she sold hers, and doesn't ride with me. But she keeps her motorcycle designation on her drivers license (in Indiana), presumably for when the kids are grown and on their own ... if that ever happens.
I've been with my lovely bride since 1992 and she was on her own Goldwing when we met. She has been riding her own motorcycles since the mid '70s. She got her start on dirt bikes and gradually worked her way up to a GL1200 Goldwing in 1986. She is now on her 4th GL1200 and she loves them. In fact she won't ride anything else. In 1998 I let her use my GL1500 to ride with an old riding buddy of hers from Texas to California and back. When she got home she said, "I'll stick to my 1200". And she has. We bought her current bike, a pristine 1987 Aspencade, last Fall and now her 1986 Aspy is up for sale. I married quite a gal!
My wife drives an 03 wing, we have two wings which means twice the bling. She took the California drivers test on a "90" 1500 which she could just reach the ground being 5'7" and 125 lbs.

My wife rides her own a 2007 1300 R VTX, In four years she has put 66,000 miles on it and I trust her riding skills more then most men I have rode with.

Cindybug started out on a 2003 Honda Shadow 750 ACE about 7 years ago, her first long trip solo following a group of bikes was about 5 months later to Key West (900 miles), we got back from Key West and she said she was ready for a larger bike, we got her a brand new 2006 VTX 1300R off the showroom floor which she rode to Canada and Niagra Falls that next summer. She still rides with me a lot ..which I prefer. I dont worry about her as much , plus it cuts our gas, tires, varible expenses in half when she rides with me. But Im happy to see her happy when she rides hers.
We bought an Intruder for the wife to try a few years back. She just didn't get into riding it. So now she's back behind me and it works for both of us.
Whether your wife rides her own or not is not important. What is important is having a compatible riding partner.
My wife rides a Yamaha Majesty 400cc scooter... a lot. Rides it to work, up and down the PA Turnpike to visit her mom in Ohio and follows me on the Wing if she wants. We took the MSF course years ago together and she's a very confident rider.
My wife want even sit on a bike. She says maybe someday she will ride with me.
Now the big question: do I really want her to LOL
