Here in Canada we call it Remembrance Day. We had a record year for the sale of poppies this year in part caused by the terrorist attacks in Quebec and Ontario last month. The Highway of Heroes had to be used once again!

Our equivalent to your Remembrance Day here in the U.S. is "Memorial Day". It is a federal holiday and is the day on which we remember the men and women who have died while serving in the country's armed forces.
"Veterans Day", also a federal holiday, is the day upon which we say "thank you" to ALL the men and women who have served this country in one or more of it's armed forces.

God bless all veterans everywhere. Thanks to all for your service and (for some) your sacrifices.
IT IS THE SOLDIER
It is the Soldier, not the minister
Who has given us freedom of religion.
It is the Soldier, not the reporter
Who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the Soldier, not the poet
Who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the Soldier, not the campus organizer
Who has given us freedom to protest.
It is the Soldier, not the lawyer
Who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the Soldier, not the politician
Who has given us the right to vote.
It is the Soldier who salutes the flag,
Who serves beneath the flag,
And whose coffin is draped by the flag,
Who allows the protester to burn the flag.
Thank You...to all who have served. Thank You...to all who are serving. Thank You...to all who are waiting at home for their warriors to return. Thank You...to absent companions.
Yes I agree but the sad part is that I heard that in the US 40% of Vets are homeless and I am not entirely sure of the exact numbers but it's pretty high of daily suicides ( I think it's over 10) .......so its such a tragedy.
I still think the one in Canada was a setup.....seems there just happened to be 15 police cruisers in the area that day...hmmmm normally there are maybe two tops.....most are at Tim Hortons (just being sarcastic now ..sorry).
It's a shame and our government should be ashamed the way they treat these ppl that put themselves in harms way......and for what.....the illusion of democracy and freedom and to further the agenda of big banks and big Pharma it's criminal.
11-11-11. Lest we forget. 11th hour, 11th day, 11th month - Armistice, the official end of WW1. The war where the world was fool enough to believe it was "the war to end all wars".
None to be found these days, WW1 vets that is so they amended this holiday.
