OEM spoiler LED bulb?

Bulb burned out/defective in OEM spoiler. Honda says not a warranty item and they only sell the entire unit for $300+. Is there an after market bulb only available? It is getting 12v to bulb.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks to all! Those prices are much easier to swallow. After service manager found out I had to purchase the complete spoiler, he did tell me to bring it in and he would call Honda. Will post outcome.
OK went to dealer for them to check out and call Honda about warranty. Talk to service manager and he informs me it is not covered as it's an add on accessory and is only warranted for 30 days. Just so happens the Honda rep is there and says no it's covered for 3 years. Yes! So they order new spoiler and I walk out get on bike and start backing up. The rep walks out, to leave, and is he now behind my bike as I hit the brakes. Yep, it was working, so we had a discussion and I agreed to watch it and see what developes. Never fails. I plugged it in immediately after confirming I had voltage to the unit and nothing. I've riden around for several days and it as never been working when I have checked it. Gotta feeling we will be talking again. Still have a year left on warranty.

Took bike to dealer to check out and call Honda to see if it was a warranty item. Service rep says no because it's an add on accessory and is only covered for thirty days. Honda rep was there, and he said no it's covered for 3 years. YES! They order new unit and I leave, get on bike and start backing up. Honda rep walks out to leave at same time. Walks behind bike and says your brake light is working. WHAT? Sure enough it's working, never fails. We discuss, and i agree to watch it for a few days and see what gives. So frustrating as I verified I had voltage, to unit, and it was not working. It hasn't worked for days, as kept I checking it. Oh well, gotta feeling we will be talking again.

There are 2 connectors inside the spoiler where the light connects to the harness. They are bullet type connectors with full rubber boots. They can appear connected but are not. I'd loosen the spoiler, take the 2 screws out for the light, gently pull the light out and check those connectors. Maybe even a little dielectric grease might make them easier to plug in. Just a little though on the rubber boot.

Yes, did that. Disconnected light to check for power. Connectors were clean and very tight.?? Time will tell. Thanks.

Do you happen to have a Running/Brake light kit on your spoiler??

If so based on what you said when the Rep looked at your bike. I'd be looking for a crushed/broken internal wire that is causing the intermittent contact issue it sounds like you got.

Yes I did, but removed it to see if that was the problem. Still would not light when front or rear brake was applied after removing. I really believe it's in the light or light leads as I had power to light. I carry a mechanics mirror with me so i can check it easily by myself. Was still working when I got home. Thanks for all the help!

PS...Do you think the Kisan Tailblazer could have damaged the LED bulb?

I don't think it could. but I have a question.

Is the trail blazer still connected to the spoiler?? If so take it out of the loop and see if the light functions as it should.

BTW:
The Lights consists of I think it's 30 or so LED's. So a section could go out because of a resistor in a section (I seen that before) but not take out the whole light. You either have a ground or power short in the wiring or the leads the run into the light.

You can tape you hand lever and jiggle each wire back under the lid to see if you can isolate the wire culprit. and like Techdude said, don't forget the wire harness where the trunk hinges are. That is a known problematic wiring area on these bikes.

I removed it to be sure it wasn't the problem. It's not installed now and will wait until I see what happens before hooking it back up. Will play around with it some more to see if i can make it fail.

Was the Honda accessory part of the original purchase of the Goldwing? If so, that may be why it carries a 3 year warrentee.

remember, the led light is polarity sensitive. Your problem is more at the wiring level, improper plug in, or added acc. These things do not burn out.
