Well my battery in my 09 GL1800 gave up the ghost after 4+ years of faithful service.

What is the current battery to use in the Wing and where is the best place to get one?

Thanks
JT

You should at least consider the AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) battery from Batteries Plus.
Good product, good price, great warranty. I've had mine 3 years and it is performing just as hoped.
I especially like that it has extra mounting points on the terminals for accessories.

From 09 up, Honda went to a different type of battery then used on the earlier ones. The early ones have white lettering and the later ones have red lettering. The problems with the aftermarket brands are mostly in their posts. Some are turned the other way, some have a completley different shape, while other end up not having as much contact area for the cable to make contact with. Because much of our battery problems are caused from poor contact at the cable/post, at my shop I don't even sell Yuasa batteries (not that they are not a good product), but I only sell Yuasa's that come in an OEM Honda box. Those ones come with the gold colored nut and bolt. I do that wanting my customers to have the greatest chance of not having any cable/post contact problems. The cost to them is a few dollars more.

OK. Time to chime in here on the forum. I joined long ago but only been lurking and reading as I haven' owned a Wing since the '80's. I spend most my time on a site for the Yamaha Ventures, which I own and ride daily.

I ran across this thread today on batteries. I have tried about everything out there and the Brand of choice these days is DEKA AGM line made in PA right here in the USA. These are military grade quality and we found the have outperform the Odessy line in CCA power. The first one I installed on my V4 1200 lasted over five years of year round daily use before it tested at 25% battery health and was replaced before a long trip. I still have at battery and use it as a loaner.

The thing is the DEKAs sell for a lower price than most other comparable batteries and from my experience hold up extremely well.. I've recommended, sold and installed these on about a dozen other friends bikes without one failure or complaint. Being AGM they are tough with a very low discharge rate.

I deal with a supplier out of Florida. Bohannon Battery. Shipped to any address I need it to fast for less than most can by a battery locally.

Just my .02. But figured it was worth a mention. I rarely say this is the best you can get....... but this is one of those products.

I just put my second OEM Yuasa battery in my bike. Two batteries in 13 years ain't bad. I think I will stick with them. BTW I got it from Amazon for $82.52 shipped to my door on the sixth day after I ordered it.
