My local shop is estimating up to 6 hours for this work...it sounded like a lot of time. Does anyone have a better estimate. The shop has not done any of the new cartridges yet. Is the anti dive still used?? and so we still use 10wt fork oil?
TIA

I don't think 6 hours is too far out of the ball park.

I agree with Ed. As for replacing the steering bearings, that and the fork rebuild all depends on how much SAFETY CHROME and EXTRA LIGHTS THAT HAVE TO BE REMOVED. It also depends on how the stuff is wired and if there are quick disconnects on the wiring.

I wish some of you fellas that did this kind of work on your own Wing lived closer to me. I hate paying shop rates and I'd like to watch so I can learn more. I do a lot of my own stuff but I am "suspension stupid" and I'm wanting the Progressive tubes and All-Balls on my '08.

Take a ride down to Houston and see Buckskin. It would be worth the ride.

Kinda like asking how long it takes to poop.

I can do a fork service and install All Balls in 2 1/2 hours if you stay out of my way..LOL

Installing the shock Kit wouldn't take a minute longer. Because the forks have to come completely apart and cleaned anyways for a fork service.
2 1/2 hours, Someone needs to get this on video !!!:thumbup::thumbup:

I keep hopeing someone closer to me will provide this service. I would really like to ride to San Diego to get rocky to do it, but Houston is a lot closer... any chance that this new Progressive 'solution' will decrease the traxion charges? Competion, supply and demand, econoimics 101....

Probably not. Some will always prefer the options that Traxxion can supply to tweak their style of riding while others are happy with a one size fits all solution or no solution at all. It only really matters to the rider. Run what makes you happy. If OEM blows your skirt up, then by all means ride on. If Traxxion is the ultimate, then by all means ride on. If Progressive does it for you, then by all means ride on. It's your bike, your money and nobody else's opinion matters except yours.

Just put the monotubes in my 08, In 2 hours and 45 minutes was test riding the bike. I can't comment on the all balls steerings bearings as I still have the originals.

Van Buren to Van Buren.............

.....county, that is. I just rebuilt my forks, installed the All Balls bearings, filled the preload actuator, and installed a new BT 45 on the front. I'm no mechanical genius, but I can get 'er dun. Let me know if you want to come to Clinton, AR to rebuild your forks, I should have all the tools it will take, it'll give me a reason to clean up my shop...........

ME TOO! I was an aircraft mechanic.. not a bike mechanic and I want to do the all balls and Progressive struts.. but I guess I'll have to pay the shop rate.. Wish "The Motorcycle Service Shop" was still open here in the Mesa, AZ area.. they were a great shop!

One thing I have not seen discussed is what Progressive requires to be done on the forks to convert them to cartridge style to maintain the lifetime warranty. Do they have to be rebuilt, just cleaned or nothing at all? I would assume this is all spelled out in the instruction paper work from Progressive.

Oh Joe....you may have just messed up. I've been wanting to take a ride through Clinton, Mountain View and elsewhere around that area. I've been everywhere else over there but somehow have managed to miss those towns! I have a son that lives in Conway that I visit frequently but have just never headed north out of there. I have also been wanting to fill my preload actuator. I'll give you a shout soon and see if you still feel frisky!
