My Skyrocketing Insurance Rates !!

I got a call from my bike insurance broker Dalton Timmus who told me that insurance company Aviva received approval from the gov't to once again increase insurance rates. Thus, my current rate of $1151/year is jumping by over $200! TWO HUNDRED F**KING DOLLARS?? Are you kidding me?

My insurance has gone up every year without ever a claim, but TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS? She went on to tell me that the company's payouts are more than they are taking in and the premiums go into a pool, yada, yada, yada! Yeah, I know all that, I said.

Yet I am forced to pay more because dumb-ass kids wrap their crotch rockets around trees while old farts like me ride responsibly.
Geezus H. Krist, what a sham!

Rant off! :mad1:

Hey Paul...maybe we can do, a little more riding in the future now that your going to be an easterner! You will be closer to Canadian Jack also. I will have to drive the old clunker though! ;)
Yeah, lucky you, Paul.
I've been trying to get outta the GTA for years but my Italian wife won't leave her dumptruck load of relatives . .:?

I received the same sticker shock at renewal....Do a search with Kanetix
http://www.kanetix.ca/motorcycle-insurance
Found better coverage at a lesser rate than last year with TD..Paying just over 1K.
Bet you if they no longer mandated ins...prices would drop..Don't be fooled, the ins industry is amongst
the most profitable business...Take a walk down Bay and King and you'll bear witness to the Taj Mahals built
from our premiums.
Fred - I tried Kanetix twice. Once using the price for a new Gold Wing, and once using $14,999. Both times it came back with the same premium, and it was double what TD Insurance is charging me.

Sorry Paul, my wording was a little ambigous. What I mean't to say was after doing a Kanetix search (online insurance comparison website),
I received half dozen quotes of which TD was the lowest..The range was between 7K-1K.

Just renewed with TD on my trike for 991.00 for the year. Trike is valued at 21,000.00 by insurance company. Has liability of 1 million, PL, PD, Collision, Fire and Theft, and comprehensive. Trike is a 2000 but TD told me if it was a bike only with the same coverage my rates would be between 650.00 to 675.00 for the year. trike kit increases value so I pay more. A lot cheaper than anyone else. Oh, I only have the trike insured with them as they could not match my other insurance company on my truck and my house. Roger

Your postal code makes a big difference..Several years ago received an auto insurance renewal and was pleasently surprised to find a rate reduction..Also noted my postal code was incorrect on the ins documents..L0G instead of L0J..Being a stickler for accuracy I called up my broker
and advised them of the error..Several weeks later received amended insurance renewal, several hundred dollars higher. Turns out L0G is a rural
location with a lower density of vehicles and I assume a lower risk jurisdiction.Listening to talk radio several months ago and they were saying people living in Brampton have higher ins rates for compareable vehicles due to the high payouts in the area..Live in a higher rated area and everyone gets tarred with the same brush.

Fred D. You are right. When I lived in BRAMPTON postal code L6T my insurance was higher than it is now. My postal code is now L9M it is the quoted price. In Brampton it reached just barely under 1,300.00 dollars. We are semi rural and in a very small village. Rush hour lasts about ten minutes through the Village. Roger
