Im wanting to put on the heated show chrome grips #17-950 but I HATE the massive heat adjustment knob on it. Is there anything I can use in place of it? Something in the smaller version knob/toggle? Thanks in advance for all the input:thumbup:
I put on the Star? heated grips with a small lo - hi - off rocker switch which I mounted inside the right glove box. Work great and inexpensive. Sorry about the name.......I'm old..
May want to look at the electric heated grip "wraps" that Aerostitch sells. #1433 $45. I have these and they install in seconds. The thing I like about these is that there is no chance of them developing an open in the wiring durring the long months of the year that they are not needed. Nothing worse than the things not working just when you need them. I also got the controller.
I bought them a couple years ago. They quit working after about 30 minutes. They were replaced and the replacement did the same thing. I would not buy them. The next time I buy heated grips it will be on a new bike.
I've had the heated grips on backorder from EC since February 24th. Im still waiting. I hope they get here before it gets too warm to use them.
While waiting i did manage to pick up a really nice set of insulated gauntlets though
They were for me. Would recommend dry fitting your grips back on before you adhesive them on, so you get an idea of how they are going to go on. There's a good post regarding how to install.
I have a set of heated grips I got this winter from EC. Plan was to put them on but then i went and stuck my hand into my snowblower. Been a long 7 weeks, but I hopefully get the pins out next week. I would love to swing by when you are working on yours or follow up with you later to learn all I can about how to do it.
If x-rays go well next Wednesday the doc will pull the pins out. Still can't really bend index and long finger but at least I'll be able to wear a glove. If I feel safe pulling the clutch with ring and pinky finger I should be back up and riding.
If it's the control that has a square box with a round knob that does the controlling. Our mechanic removed the knob installed the box inside the lower fairing where most people put the volt meter. drilled a small hole where the red on light is so when it's on (at night) it can be noticed. He also removed the nomenclature that shows what power level is and placed it behind the knob so you can see the power setting during daylight hours. Been on for quite awhile no problems.

i have the same grip heaters, they work great ! price has gone up they used to be only $25, i mounted the switch inside left fairing pocket, easy to unplug if i need to remove the pocket, if its not to late i would return the show chrome heaters, seems like to many complaints
I am also using the Dual-stars. Installed them under Kury grips and they have worked great for about 4 yrs. Even if you have to get new grips they are cheaper than OEM's and more reliable. I hooked mine to a controller mounted under the right hand pocket. My arthritic hands just love 'em.

How did you get your hand stuck? We only had 2 snows worthy of snowblowing!! That sucks!! Heal quick so we can go riding! No wonder I havent seen your bike at work! Im going to put on the grips maybe one rainy weekend.
