I called the Black Dog and due to the number of people showing interest and the small size of the Urbana Location. They advised me to move it to their Champaign location is:
320 N Chestnut St, Champaign, IL 61820
I hope this doesn't inconvenience anyone. It is not that many miles from the first location.

Please let me know if you are coming so we will have a head count to let the Black Dog get prepared.

Betty and I so add 2 more . If you need help with the math Boomer I am here for ya >:)

Could I sweet talk ya into 1pm instead of noon ??
7 am is a bit early for Betty to get rolling in the morning on her day off . Even camping is pushing it that early .

We may want to ask some of the people traveling a long distance. If they are planing on riding home it may make it hard for them. I was going to make it 12 EST and I decided not to. You have to remember if they are coming from Ohio and riding home afterwards. If we meet at 1 CST that is 2 EST and by the time we eat and visit it will probably be almost 5 EST. Then if they have a 5 hour ride home????? What ever everyone wants. I decided to stay over night when I made it 12. As that made a too long of a day for this ole man.

Google says 5 1/2 hours one way for me, and I always loose 35-45 minutes hitting Cincinnati at rush hour.

Just to confirm the question mark by my name on the list of attendees. Fayborg will be attending with Grey Red Rider.

I was wondering how we were all going to fit in the Urbana location. Mighty small place and very popular. Haven't been to the new place. Thanks for organizing the RTE.

To answer this question. We have never been there and one of the guys saw it on line and it was totally his idea. I moved it after calling and talking to the Urbana location. I won't rat him out, but it is a flop we can blame him!
The idea of the RTE was RAW's and he asked me to post it.

It's going to be interesting to see which state has the most people show up. It is close so far between IL, OH, and WI. With IN in last so far.

You know it is a lot closer for anyone living on the east side of IA and MO than it is for me. almost half the travel time. This has turned into a Midwest RTE!

People that are planing on showing up. If I have missed your name please let me know. There were a couple that said they were thinking about it, but I don't think they have made up thier minds.

Fixed it for you.:wink2:

A sizeable chunk of KY and a good bit of MI is closer than you!

I went ahead and posted this on Iowa, Missouri, Kentucky, and Michigan boards. (Hope that's OK...:surprise:)

My plans are to spend the night at my son's house close to Cincinnati. That way I can leave early and miss the traffic around I-275. This is a WIN-WIN!! Miss the rush hour and spend the evening with two of my grandsons!

Minus 2

After a a quite a good thought process on this RTE we decided that will not be attending . It's my last free weekend before many many hours getting the new shop ready for the move and the actaul move. With 8 hours min on slab riding in mainly IL it just seems like not a relaxing last weekend . Would have to get rolling by 6 am and would not be back to campsite till 7 pm again seems like a waste of a weekend camping and relaxing . We really wanted to attend this and Betty was looking forward to meeting a lot of you for the first time , but she enlightened me to the hard facts of how much I hate the slab, how much I hate flat ,Il ,and the simple fact it's going to cut some 80 percent of my weekend . I am glad I married up , but often hinders my snap decisions later . ENjoy the Day and please do not hate me for backing out . We will be camping all weekend in Dodgeville so if your bored I do make quite awesome meals ,snacks over open fire .
Again sorry for cancelation,,,

Time set for sure?

RAW plans on coming if the sun comes up and the creek don't rise!

Was the eating time decided upon after the time discussion later in the thread? I ASS U ME it's still noon CST?

I am coming as "I think" I have a few cookies traveling down from Marshfield, WI over a transaction Rail and I completed several weeks ago. At least I am at least hoping, whining, wishing, begging, slobbering, drooling that somehow I will be granted or at least bestowed some of the golden cookies from up north. Just a very small hint. Who the heck cares about barbecue when you have some of those delightful cookies!

AND ANOTHER THING! YOU WISCONSIN GUYS STOP PICKING ON BOOMER!

You may tick him off and he won't show up and buy my lunch!

I don't blame you, Rail. I have been a bit anxious about the 3.5 hrs of slab riding myself. Champaign-Urbana is my home town and I have frequently through the years taken 2 lanes just to keep off the interstate.

I have thought about a small diversion enroute to C-U taking IL 71 west south of Peru, IL to IL 26 which runs south to East Peoria along the Illinois River. It is about scenic as it gets in central IL. From there we would jump onto I-74 to C-U. It would add about 30 - 45 mins to the trip in IL.

Y'all do know it is Wisconsin's fault for IL being as flat and as boring as it is when you sent a mile high glacier south from Wisconsin 10,000 years ago. Just sayin'... ;)

#37 ·
I have ridden that pretty same route 5 years ago on way back meandering around Paris . It's a good choice . I would have loved to go , trust me the Ohio gang is quite a cool bunch . But 3/4 of one day on slab on my last free weekend was not cool.

Oh and yes we do realize it was the glacier that made Il a great farming crop state . What do you think we feed our cheese, icecream ,milk making cows with >:). Besides we let ya all come and visit ,,,,,,sometimes

Meeting up along the way

This is primarily meant for RAW, but if any other Buckeyes want, I am going to be motoring west on I-70 and meeting Raybob @ 8:00 am at exit 10 (SR127) on I-70. Truck stop on the north side of the road. From there we pick up Boomer on the west side of Indy. Y'all are more than welcome to ride along. No commitments. If you're there, you're there.

OK, I'll be there. That is 8:00 EST right? Since we are dealing with the two time zones.

I assume you're meeting at the BP just north of I-70?

Hope You Reconsider

Rail I understand your thought process on the ride to the eat. I am almost the exact same distance on the slab as you are to the RTE. I am leaving a bit earlier and running some backroads to stay off the slab some. I usually do that. A little less sleep in the morning is better than slab riding to me.

I hope you reconsider the ride as this is the first of this kind of RTE we have tried. I'm just pushing stuff I SHOULD be doing this Saturday to another day.

You Ohio guys let this next statement go, as this Buckeye bunch will blow it WAY out of proportion!

Rail one of the reasons I am going is to see the mostly good bunch from my old state of Wisconsin. You included!

If you're not there, you diminish the fun and atmosphere!

But a man has to do what a man has to do. Or what his wife says!

50 hours min starting next Monday as getting ready to move into , wire, plumb , and set up new building at work . This RTE sadly will ruin the last free weekend I have till the snow flies and a few months after. Being the campgrounds I am stayin at is 2.5 hours added there is just no way it makes an sense for us to attend . I do really want to but riding through central IL twice in one day is not what the brain needs for mega hours in store for me . Twice a year we have ride in in WI . Maybe this would help ya get to know us Wi riders better . I am really sorry , but it's just not the best plan for us to attend this . But I will most likely be sad I did .

Wow - just checking - it looks like Champaign's time zone is Central Daylight Time.

Of course you all probably knew that since I have not been following this thread.

It would take me an hour longer to get home... and I just have to be home by 4:30 PM EST - so with unknown road conditions/traffic around Indy and Champaign, I am out on this one. Have a great RTE bringing the Badgers and Buckeye's together!

Those that know me, know I don't like riding in the RAIN. (It's a four letter word) :eek:4: BUT!!!! I plan to make this even if I get wet. :crying: However I will not be riding through bad thunder storms!! I am leaving early enough that if I hit severe weather I will stop and wait till it passes. How many others plan to be there rain or shine?

Thought about this ride....... but at almost a thousand miles of boring slab riding, that makes it an overnighter and not much fun. So I'm out.

See Boomer I do read and answer ........sometimes!

It would have been good to see you again Harvey. I will be staying at my son's house Friday to save me about two hours on Saturday. I may even stay somewhere Saturday night so I won't get home so late.

They sure are.
The Ride Like A Pro people are going to let me know tomorrow if they are canceling the class on Saturday also.
Looks like this is a big storm cell.
fingers are crossed though.
I am a "if it's meant to be" kind of guy, so I am ok with whatever it does or doesn't do. :)

Doug
90% does sound bad. What does everyone think we should do?? Go with it, or cancel to another date? Let's hear from everyone. We need to make up our minds by this evening. Of coarse they have been giving 80-90% chance all week and all we got was a five minute shower one day and about an 2 hours of rain yesterday. Let me know what you think???????

On another note. John Jones (was or is) going to be there. He is to coming in a cage.
