Default What is the Goldwing 1/4 mile time?

Does anyone know what the Goldwing is rated as 0-60 and 1/4 mile?

Published statistics vary some but the best documented official 1/4 mile run I read about was 12.78 @ 105mph. Slow by motorcycle standards but quite respectable for a big Touring bike and faster than most unmodified sportcars.

During our performance testing, the Wing blazed to 60 mph in a quick 4.13 seconds. It hit 100 mph in 11.32 seconds and tripped through the quarter-mile in 12.40 at 109.4 mph.)

The early GL1800's were capable of doing a 12.14 second quarter mile at a speed of 105.92 mph (faster than a Corvette or a Porsche). Top speed is debatable, although 126 mph measured on a GPS is very doable with even a tad more throttle left. I have also seen another Goldwing that had a 130 mph GPS measured speed.

This is eye opening for me, I didn't know the wing was this sporty. It seems the 2001 had slightly more horsepower and torque then the new ones for some reason. Great links to look at guys.

IMHO the times/speeds for the Wing look quite respectable for the weight.

The older ECM mapping was why. The over heating "fix" killed a little horsey power.

Not to mention that it's a motor capable of running 200k without any issues!! Try that with a high output spurt bike or Harley..

I've got quite a bit of experience with fast cars and motorcycles. I've seen mostly 12.7 at 103 published, and I'm not believing anything significantly faster than that. I have a Corvette that runs 12.4/117 (bone stock) with me driving it and I'll promise you that in the 1/4 mile my Corvette will run off and hide from the Goldwing.

Kind of like checking the drags for performance on quarter mile times for a dump truck, doncha think? Any good sport tourer over 800cc will blow its armrests off.....

    That was cool!
If he'd learned how to launch, I'd bet he would've won a few of those races. In any case, that was some nice footage.

I think that would be better stated as Slow by Sportbike standards...

It is actually quite respectable for most motorcycles... (Including Cruisers, Touring, Sport Touring, etc...)

No doubt, if that fella could get his et down he would beat the white sport bike. I wish he would have showed his times on every run and not just the last one, which he was caught sleeping at the light.

When I get on mine on a long deserted country road from a dead stop. It feels like 3 sec. and a 120 mph. That's just me though.
