Default best way to clean bugs off the windshield and bike

I have heard several times and read at times that you can use a mix of hydrogen peroxide, rubbing alcohol and water to remove bugs and dirt from the windshield and bike. It is supposed to litteraly desolve the bugs making it very easy to clean the surface. Has anyone heard of this or tried a mix of this solution. If so is there a recipe or formula for mixing and making the solution? I am using what I think is the best windshield cleaner that I can buy but I understand that this solution does a better job.

I use a 50/50 mix of peroxide and water. Peroxide is already watered down to 2% so the mixture is 1% peroxide. Put it in a pump spray bottle and lightly spray it on the bugs on the shield. They will turn white and bubble up, then wipe with a soft cloth or micro cloth. Just did my windshield a few minutes ago to get the lovebugs off that splattered during our lunch run today. I've been using this for over a year now and have had no problem with damage to the shield or paint.

So you only use Peroxide and water. No alcohol?

Never seen any reason to put alcohol in it, the peroxide works on the bugs biological make up, just like on a cut on you or me.

I found, quite by accident, that Meguires quick detail spray has excellent bug/fly removing qualities, a squirt of that and a micro fibre cloth and I have yet to be beaten by a baked on fly....

Bugs on the windshield are Badges of Honor.
I remove mine with bug and tar remover when I have so many the front forks start bottoming out.
But this peroxide stuff sounds better for the plastic.
after you clean it , Wax it, it will be easier to clean later.
Plus the water runs off better in the rain. If you ride in the rain

Get wet bath towel and lay it on the windshield and cowl. Wash the rest of the bike. After 10 minutes of soak any bug willl come off. Dry the whole bike off with towel. Follow up with Meguires Quick Detail spray or Lemon Pledge on the W/S.

I have a 2001 Black...............does the peroxide mixture harm the painted surfaces. I have bugs from Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota, on the front end. Do quality/quantity of bugs matter

Plexus works great on anything plastic or windshields and after the first cleaning they come off even easier. I've tried other products but I keep coming back to Plexus.

I tried it and Peroxide removes the wax from the paint. I use Rejex on the paint once a season and have an F4 shield. Spritz with cold distlled water, let stand a few minutes then BOM for the clean. Amazing how easy they come off Rejex and the F4.

This is what I use....and is highly suggested by my windshield maker, clearview.

Soak a big towel with cold water, rinse out, and let it sit on the windshield for 5-10 min. This will loosen all bugs and deprise so you don't scratch the shield when you remove the bugs. The bugs get so soft you can easily wipe them off. Then you can follow with cleaning with a simple car wax, or Honda spray and clean....or whatever you want (or what the windshield allows).

I use dryer sheets to clean love bugs off my truck and it does not hurt the paint; bugs come off very easy. Not sure what it will do to a windshield and by the way dryer sheets will polish chrome as good as anything.

tried the peroxide and yes it works OK

tried the wet towel soak and yes that works OK

my favorite method is just plain water in a fine mist from a spray bottle, let it soak for about 5-10 minutes and most bugs wipe off pretty easy, then apply a coat of car wax, Plexus or Honda polish

with proper care these plastic windshields can last a very long time, my windshield has over 230,000 miles and its still in pretty decent shape

Hot Water and a Micro-Fiber towel works just fine for me. If the Bugs have set up very long I just lay the towel on the area for a few minutes to soften it up then squirt it all away with a handy water bottle.

One thing I never do is Scrub the mess before getting the majority of the Bug Guts washed off with plain water. Once all that is done, which is quicker than it sounds, I use Plexus and or Meguire's PlastX as needed.

Keeping a good coat of Wax on the bike minimizes the work needed to clean it up too. And NO Peroxide or Dish Soap which both take off the Wax increasing the time and expense to re-Wax the bike more than needed.

When in Bug Country at the peak of the Hopper Season I try to stop at least mid-day if not more often to keep the Slime from building up.

When the Hoppers are really thick I stop at a DIY Car Wash daily to spray the Radiators Clear too. A few minutes is all that takes and keeps the bike running cooler. When using those High Pressure Car Washes I try to avoid forcing water into the sensitive areas on the bike and back off a ways to minimize the pressure applied if the Tupper-Ware is being washed at the same time as the Radiators. Otherwise I leave the majority of the cleaning to the manual process with Micro-Fiber Towels.

Plus to keep the Fork Tubes from sanding away at the Fork Seals with dried Bug-Guts I put a set of Gators, MX size cut down, on 'em which minimizes the work and or expense involved otherwise.

Hydrogen peroxide works great. You can get a large bottle for a dollar at wall mart. Notice it comes in a brown colored bottle. Sunlight ruins it. I will sometimes spray mine down and head to the car wash. Plexis is good for polishing. I really like the lemon pledge. It is good for the whole bike and makes it so most bugs don't stick to anything. With the pledge, I have half the bugs that my friends that don't use it will have. Most of those will just wipe off. I always carry a sponge in a zip bag and a terry cloth towel and a gatorade twist top bottle of water. I will wash the bugs with water and sponge and terry cloth dry. I then use the plexis or pledge with a microfiber type towell for finish shine. Do not use the blue paper towells at gas stations. Tulsa does have good advice on cleaning windshields.

My original question was, "I have heard several times and read at times that you can use a mix of hydrogen peroxide, rubbing alcohol and water to remove bugs and dirt from the windshield and bike". I got a lot more than I ask for. Thank You for all your replies. I will mix 50-50 water and Peroxide to remove the bugs, Quick detailer to put the shine back on and Plexus to polish the windshield.
