Gee, I was thinking of maybe joining a fun club like the Laughing Devils. They seem like a fun bunch of guys. And too, I'm a real fun loving kind of guy.
Ask yourself....."Self? Do I really like riding in groups? Do I really like being told how to ride and in which side of the lane? Do I really like having to watch the other riders so closely that I don't see the scenery? Do I like being told what tire I can or cannot use? " etc. etc.
Some clubs are like that. I prefer to ride by myself or with no more than two other bikes.

The few clubs I've been in only wanted to socialize and go for short rides. No thanks, wife & I been riding alone for 25 years but riding together for 44 years. We go were we want, when we want and at the speed we want.

I enjoy both styles of riding. I ride a lot by myself or with my wife and I also group ride with my local Star group. Here is the link to our chapter www.star186.org I really enjoy group riding and the camaraderie that goes along with it. There is a lot of structure with our group but we are not rigid. We ride in formation, have hand signals and CB's, no drinking of alcohlic beverages, and no horseplay. We ride 2-3 times per month and average about 350 miles per ride. We are a very safety oriented group and I really enjoy the people I have come to know. Google your local Star Chapter. I'm sure there is one near you. Send the President an email and join them on their next Chapter ride. Or, if you are ever in my area you can ride with us and try it out.
Whats the matter with the GL1800Riders.com CLUB. Here in Florida it is quite active. Rides are almost every week and sometimes 2 or 3. Some ride alone and others ride in groups. All you have to do is start up a discussion about a ride on the State forum and get things going.

"the devils ride" has got to be the most ridiculous tv show about bike/bikers I've ever seen. At least with shows like the "sons of anarchy" you know it's hollywood. The Devils Ride tries to make you believe that these guys are real one percenters... What a JOKE

I have to agree with you 100%. One reason we ride is to be free from the regular world, the seat belts, and the like. There is no fun to be had when you spend a day rideing in parade formation, eyes glued to the rear wheel of the bike ahead, wondering if he has fallen asleep, staring at the wheel ahead of him.
And yes, told where to ride and what lane to ride in, and what we were going to wear that day. I have even been told I could not ride tail gunner because I have not been trained how to do it. And this comming from a member who is a safety course trainer for a military contractor. As he was healing up from wrecking on the open high way. Running into the back of another bike in traffic. I was not there to see it my self, but have been told by many that were, that was the case. I wish him well.
