    Highway Check - 95N - 26W / 77N - 81N / 81N - 88W

Anyone traveled these roads thru GA, SC, NC, VA, PA, NY in the last 2 months?

    Construction? Overall condition?

    Thanks

Not much help here, but I'll tell you what I know.

I-77 from Mt. Airy up to I-81 is clear. The view going up the mountain just past the VA/NC line (from about 1100 ft. above sea level to about 3000 ft. asl) is one of my favorite interstate views in the eastern US. It's really good on a clear day.

Was just up there over the 4th of July weekend.

    Hope this helps a little.

    Travel safely.

Also, where is 26? Are you planning to take the NJTP? That road can be clogged for MILES from exit 7-8 to exit 10 during the day. I don't even know why but the last few times I have been on that road over the last 5 years, it is STOPPED. Turned a 10 minute drive into an hour.

I-26 runs from Charleston, SC, up to the Tri-Cities area of East Tennessee.

    Map safely.

Oh in that case, skip 95, you can run 81 straight up for a while and right into Binghamton! and skip the NYC smells. Much better roads out in PA and way nicer views. Unless you have a thing for dirty buildings.
If you can, Hit the Adirondacks. Great mountain riding.

On the way back from the BRP, I rode 77 north from Fancy Gap VA to Lake Erie on 7/8. There was some road work up near the VA tunnels near the WV border, but didn't really effect mid-day traffic. A few small construction zones in WV also, but mostly bridge repairs not long stretches torn up.

Take 81 North, skip 95 any place you can. Live within 2 miles of 8A NJTP, Rte 95 and IT SUCKS! I avoid TP ant time I can. It can be stopped completly from Exit 6 to 9 due to lane merges. Exit 7a for Rte 195, Great Adventure traffic South Bound can back up onto the Turnpike. Take 81 to 83 to 88 to 890 in Schenectady than 87 North to Lake George Etc. Have a lot of .gpx mapsource files of rides up in that area. PM me if you can use them.

    road warriors!
the OP is requesting info to leave the FLA area and going to the finger lakes region.
Hence his request for 95N to I-26N then I-77N which connects to I-81N then branching off to the i-88 in Binghamton to continue up to the finger lakes region.

since i play with that route more than i care to admit i can suggest an alternative since the I-81 is over saturated with the big trucks and LEO presence.

another consideration try 95n,26n,77 to Charlotte I-85,to Greensboro and take SR 29 north thru the Virginia towns north until I-66 towards front royal. pick up 81 then continue on until the 81/rte 17 split then decide on the next destination.
a bit more scenic and still can be a fast/quick mover

As you're passing Columbia, S.C., say hello to Fort Jackson for me. Many "fond" memories from 42 years ago.
