    Default milage between oil changes

The GW owner's manual says to change oil every 8,000 miles.
I am using Rotella T oil but that seems like to many miles between oil changes.
    When do you change oil?
    Thanks for your reply.

And remember, 8K is what is listed for regular dino oil. If you are using synthetic oil then you should be able to go a bit longer if you wish.

But if Honda says to change it at 8,000 miles I am not going to argue with them. They know more about their machines than I do.

I usually change my oil and filter every 4-5,000. I could go longer but I just feel comfortable with that range. To each his own.

Mild state of tune of the GL1800 engine, combined with it's high-tech (metals) engineering and todays quality oils make 8k the correct number... as recommended.

My 8K changes using Syn is being done while the bike is still under warranty, just in case there is a motor problem. I intend to extend that when the warranty expires. I'm old enough to remember when synthetic first came out. You were told to go 25K, change the filter and go another 25K! That was in cars and most filters back then held a full quart.

Usually get it done once a year in spring. I have averaged about 4k miles a year on my 2010. I have heard good things about synthetics, probably going to switch rear drive and engine over this year.
