Francois at Dual Sport Touring is going to have a dual sport ride Saturday. I've been told there is an abandoned train tunnel with curve involved.
We are going to have rides for everyone!
Table for 2 please Mr. Lewis. This sounds like a great weekend........Thanks

Sorry I didn't see this earlier... I'm out of town this weekend. I don't wanna hijack Lewis's thread about his event, so I'll just give you the basics.
It's not surprising that you haven't heard anything about it, as the Backroads rallies aren't "big time" events. It's like Fred stated above. They're simply little get-togethers that the publishers of the magazine (Brian & Shira) put together, where a few of the readers all gather to ride & shoot the breeze for a few days. They usually schedule 3 of them per year (spring, summer, and fall)... with 2 of them being 4-day weekend affairs, and 1 of them a 7-10 day affair.
Since Backroads is, for the most part, a regional publication for the northeast... most of the events are held in the area. However, 3 years ago the summer rally was held down at Fontana Village down in NC near Deal's Gap... and in 2011, the summer rally was a 5-country motorcycle tour through the Alps. In 2014, they're talking about holding the spring rally down in New Zealand.
The reason I like going to their rallies is quite simple: they're not what you think of when someone says "motorcycle rally". They are simple little affairs, sort of like Cats-Cade used to be in it's infancy. There's NO structure... no vendors... no rules or guidelines. It's simply a deal where they pick the dates & a motel (usually not a chain hotel)... everyone shows up (usually around 30-to-50 bikes)... and they offer a few ride suggestions that they've mapped out for the area. The next day, everyone goes riding somewhere (not 1 great big riding formation), and meets back at the hotel at the end of the day to shoot the breeze before finding someplace to go for dinner. But as I say... nothing is planned. People simply wander off in groups of 3 to 5 riders, and head off their separate ways for the rides and for meals. They are true "come & do as you please" events where everyone simply comes to reacquaint themselves with friends they've made over the years, and have fun riding.

Let the local Dairy Queen know so they can stock up!
Somebody said, "So many Roads, so LITTLE TIME". Man if that ain't the truth. Thanks, Tom (ATCguy) for the links.
I've stayed away from the NE ever since we went to to a rally in NH several years ago and had RAIN and cold weather all the time. Was told that's the way it was there every year. Haven't been back since.
This perks my interest in that part of the country again.
Will have to look into it after next year.

I haven't looked into staying anywhere else yet, Fred but the Cove Start Park did look good to me. Price was $20/night with tents being $18/night. Don't know yet if there are other fees involved or not.
By that, I mean some states nickle-dime ya to death,.. like Indiana. There is a 'charge' for everything. A few years ago, three of us were on our way to NC and needed a place to camp 'overnight'. Their rules, all put together, would have costs us over $150. We coulda gotten a motel cheaper. Southern Indiana has some good Riding and is fun to visit, and the people are great, but for the most part, I skip the whole state. They got their gas thing so screwed up too with the posted price NOT being what you pay at the pump. OK when buying GAS but when we come through with the RV, we refrain from even stopping in the state. Government in Indiana has done all they can to drive tourists away. (rant over...)
I don't know either, how far the State Park is from all the action. As time goes by and the date gets closer, I'm sure there will be con-flab about the campin' available.
