Default The Weather Channel .vs Direct TV

It appears that DirectTV will no longer air the Weather Channel. There appears to be a rate dispute. DirectTV says that they will air "Weather Nation", and some other weather related stuff, instead.

"The Weather Channel" (TWC) is throwing a big hissy fit. Generally, they (TWC) say that they provide a very needed public service and that people will be in serious danger if they cannot get TWC on DirectTV. TWC has urged everyone to ask Congress to intervene and to urge DirectTV to reconsider. They (TWC) is going all out in the press and on their broadcasts to make DirectTV look irresponsible for even THINK about dropping TWC.

That's hilarious, because every time that there's bad weather, my satellite TV goes out.

I quit watching TWC a long time ago - when they started airing mostly TV "reality" show series and not weather.

    Anyone?

I use the internet version but not the TV version. But, I don't think that Congress should dictate what a network should show.

Direct TV has issued a statement saying that they have had TOO MANY customer complaints about TWC digressing into non weather broadcasting.

I've had DirecTV for several years, probably 10 or more, and can count the number of times I have tuned in to TWC on one hand. There are much better sources for weather info when you need it.

Generally, they (TWC) say that they provide a very needed public service and that people will be in serious danger if they cannot get TWC on DirectTV. TWC has urged everyone to ask Congress to intervene and to urge DirectTV to reconsider
Do they not realize how ridiculous this makes them look?

If the weather channel had Weather reporting on it - It would be worth watching - I hope they keep their word and it stays dropped.

Good looking weather chicks was the only reason I watched TWC most of the time. Way too many commercials and way too far left leaning for my taste.
I watched Weather Nation this morning and it was OK except for not having any good looking weather chicks. Had a couple of dudes.
That needs to get fixed if they expect me to watch a lot.

It looks like TWC is going the way of A&E and overestimating its' power in the broadcasting world and importance in our lives. The all global warming all the time channel does not get a lot of veiwership in our house. The local weather forcasts are very poor anyway.

Direct TV will not be hurt by dropping the reality weather show and the lengths to which they go to dramatize the weather.

The only time I lose my D* TV is when the dish is covered with fresh snow - other than that and Area Power fail - I don't lose Signal HD signal will fall out when storm is direct over head but the SD channels always work.

Maybe you need your Dish aligned and outside rg6 connectors replace?

I had directv for about 10 years, and cable for the last 1

Cable has more outages in one year, than Directv had in 10, for me

Remember cable tv also comes from --outer space-- as Charter says Directv comes from

I turned my Dish antenna into a bird feeder about 7 years ago. Got no cable or dish and haven't missed a single show I want to watch. I get 30 some odd channels including NBC, CBS, ABC and FOX for free. It's Easy to do, all you need it a simple antenna and bingo Instant free TV along with local weather that just as if not more accurate than TWC.. FYI if you're missing your Duck Dynasty just pop over to A&E's website and catchup.....

We have NO other option here, it is Charter or nothing, choose wisely

I did cut my bill by getting a couple Tivo machines and not paying the Charter price for recorders/cable boxes

With Global Warming it's only been covered twice in 15 yrs and that was for less that 4 hrs I can't justify the cost $71 for the non use

The freaking weather is " too left leaning" for some of you guys? Maybe you should move to the southern hemisphere; tornadoes spin the other direction down there.

Like "The Weather Channel", Internet weather site "Accuweather" has gone full steam into supporting the global warming agenda. As a result, the company lost its most popular meteorologist, Joe Bastardi. Joe joined the first Director of Meteorology at The Weather Channel, Joe D'Aleo, as founders of Weatherbell Analytics
