Default Installed Escort QI45 Remote Radar Detector

This is a new radar detector that escort has. I mounted the receiver under the front of the fairing above the fender with a piece of aluminum to help support it.

Mounted the inside radar module with speaker built into it behind the left speaker housing.

The remote display mounted above the temp guage. also has voltmeter built ito it.

Turns off and on with the ignition key. I hooked the power lead to the fog lights so if I do get pulled over and I can turn the radar off by just pushing the fog light switch. The switches on the remote display are too small to operate with gloves on.

Is the buzzer sound going though your intercom in
your helmet or are you going through a seperate
speaker in your helmet like I do??

I'm worried about your fender hitting your unit under
the front fairing also like was already posted. I realize
not everyone brakes as hard as I do, but I would hit
it on my Wing under hard braking! Even if you don't
brake as hard as I do, in a panic stop I think your
going to hit it and break it...Be careful"

ONAN,

I've been looking at this unit. My question is:

Does it have a audio output (my Passport 8500 x50 has a earphone audio output 1/8" jack)?

That way it can be connected to the GW's intercom via several methods (Kennedy. etc.).

Thanks,

Mark

ki-speed,
Will the external speaker in your 8500 Passport work at the same time you have the audio plug attached to the GW intercom?

Chuck,
Tell us about your radar detector speaker configuration to your helmet.

When you plug a 1/8" male jack into the audio jack of the 8500 Passport, the speaker in the Passport is disabled.

So, what do states such as Virginia do with such setups? I just disconnect my dash-mount RD and put it in the trunk when entering VA, but this obviously cannot be done that way.
