If they were truly "tough" you'd see them wearing ATGATT in the summer heat...

Hmmm, I don't consider myself to be tough, but I'm ATGATT. Motoport Kevlar Mesh, cooler in the summer than no gear at all...

Maybe the HD rider feels the same?

Apparently, I don't ride too slow or too fast. Most folks tell me I'm the most 'half-fast' rider they've ever seen.

I think it's cooler when moving but plenty warm when stopped. I'm an ATGATTer, too, but find sitting at a stoplight in 104 F even in my mesh gear to be pretty dang warm. It's fine when moving, though, especially with our Colorado Coolvests.

We pulled up next to a bike, while riding the Needles Highway last summer, and both rider and passenger were wearing shorts and t-shirts. The passenger looked at us in all of our geat and said, "Aren't you guys hot?" and I just smiled and said, "Yep!"...

Even stopped, I find it cooler, because the sun is not directly on my skin and I am able to wear shorts and a t-shirt under the gear, which I would never have worn before.

Of course, cooler means just that, cooler. When it's 104, it's gonna be hot no matter what you wear, LOL.

Very true. I also do the shorts an t-shirt thing under the mesh and it does make a difference.

I wear what feels good to me. Mainly jeans and a leather jacket with boots. I am comfortable. Cold with in reason doesn't bother me. I have been know to put my jacket liner in when it is really cold and even wear gloves and my helmet. I have yet to feel the need to purchase Gerbings, but maybe some day. One never knows.

I didn't see how many paying customers the 'couple' must recruit but did see that only heterosexual couples are eligible. <g> I wonder how a tax subsidized organization gets by with such a requirement?

Early yesterday morning, it was still cold for Tucson, maybe in the low 40's, a guy on a HD passed me (I stayed with him for several miles), he had no windshield, a half helmet (give him credit for at least that), no gloves, no eye protection, a light leather jacket, jeans, and boots. He was riding in a typical cruiser "clam shell" position, legs stright out in front with the wind blowing up his pant legs (had to be good for the boys), and trying to smoke a cigarette. But whatever, he kept his bad boy cruiser cool. Of course all I could think of was what a dumb a**.
So, what was the whole purpose behind this post? Do you think everyone that rides when the weather is not above 70F is a dumb a$$? Or were you just jealous that he was in the wind and you were in the cage? Sounds like you may need to loosen up your tie or get some bigger underwear cause you are really uptight.

Yup, a large segment of society will look at someone riding any motorcycle in any sort of attire under any sort of weather conditions and declare them to be an assport. In fact there is an infinite number of ways to get labled as such without even trying. But you got to take your hat off to someone that goes that extra mile.

I saw four riders on what looked like ST's or Beemers going down the freeway yesterday. Temp was 35 according to my guage, all I thought was, "you people are crazy", or, maybe just pushing the season a little? Of course I live in it for 4 months out of the year. Don't have any desire to ride when its cold.

I ride no matter what the temp. With the right gear, and the heated seat and grips plus wind wings, I am always comfy.

35 and dry is a fine temperature for riding if you have reasonable gear.

No wonder I like to ride alone or with a couple good friends. We are usually in a t-shirt (sometimes sleeveless ) or we have our riding jackets, jeans, boots and gloves. If it's cold enough, I'll toss on a winter hat. I also have friends who's bodies run pretty warm. Probably has something to do with their size. But one of them sweats like a pig in the summer. When he takes his riding coat and helmet off, it looks like he had a shower running inside his gear. That's when it's only about 75-80 degrees. you probably shouldn't judge people so easily. Some of us are good at the ball busting game and can find lots of little physical things with other people to make fun of them about. Just a thought.

I had a hard time bringing myself to buying the Gerbings. But.....I'm sure glad I did. I get to ride more often. I found that at 51 yrs old, my blood is a lot thinner than it was at 40. Maybe when my wife gets as old as me, I'll buy her some.

I don't know. I was just thinking the same the other day at Dairy Queen while I was plotting a route on my GPS, testing my blue tooth, and charging my IPOD.....

Just Kidding. There are some people that like a certain look and feel that associates with their ride. Others are "Posers" that think this is how they must look, act, have, behave, or ride. I have certain gear on my Wing that I like and serves some purpose. Other types on my street bike, and still different types on my cruiser.

Different types of bike draw many (but not all) people to what is stero-typed for that style.---Others just want to ride !

No offense intended to anyone.

I wear essentially the same gear on my body regardless of my ride.

The definition of "poser" is exceptionally broad, and will vary from person to person.

I seriously doubt that many people think they are posers, and I bet just about everyone is thought to be a poser by someone.

I can't/won't disagree with your observation, "There are some people that like a certain look and feel that associates with their ride. Others are "Posers" that think this is how they must look, act, have, behave, or ride." However, there's another group that deserves mention, those serious riders who value their lives enough to wear protective clothing, don't you think?

that's pretty funny. I know some that you would consider a poser, they can probably out ride most, not all, but most on this board. Probably put more miles on than a lot on this board. These threads are great!! No wonder a lot of folks don't attend Goldwing functions

I think it was pretty clear that he thought that hypothermia is a steep price for maintaining one's biker-man image.

Riding below 70 degrees does not make one a dumbass. Riding in near-freezing weather while wearing summer clothes DOES. Surely that isn't a difficult concept?
