Heading up to Alaska and need a warmer hat. just what I need, another helment. I want a full face helment mainly for the warmth. The question is the one that flips up or the one solid piece? any thoughts?
Thanks Jombo Dean |

Jimbo.I was just in my dealer over the weekend and spotted a new helmet on the market. It's the IS-Max by HJC..It's a flip face with built in visor..
Read about it here. http://www.webbikeworld.com/r2/motorcycle-helmet/hjc/is-max/ I found it had smoother chin bar operation and better styling than the higher cost Sy-Max II by HJC I have a IS-33 right now and will get the IS-Max for trips and colder weather.. Lots of helmets to choose from, and this is one more.

IS-MAX is a nice helmet. Really like the flip front as well as the internal sun shades, works well. Also good room from mouth to front of helmet chin so mic with sock fits well.

Thanks for the info. Have tried on many helments, the bump on my shoulders is a xx. My big question was flip or no flip. Looks like the flip IX,
Between my boys and dirt bikes, ATV's and a CBR its just what my garage needs...another helment. ... I'am not going bald my head is jut getting bigger! Thanks again.Jimbo Dean |

We have the Nolan N103 flip up and both of us really like them. Got lucky they fit both of us like a glove guess we are both the same shape knotheats.
Also you might consider the Nolan Trilogy. Can be worn as full face and 3/4 among others.

Full Face. Flips are more noisey and weigh more

I use a FF helmet at present, but this Spring I'm getting a new Shark Evoline modular helmet.
The chin bar rotates all the way to the back of the helmet when it's open so it balances better and doesn't catch the wind like other modular helmets do when they are open. It's nice to be able to open a flip-up helmet to take a drink, talk to someone or ride through town on a hot day. JMHO

I use the N103 for the Wing and its useful if you like to travel with friends/passenger, make frequent stops, snack, etc. since you don't have to remove it. Just flip it and do your stuff! Include the Pinlock system for anti fog.

10-4 on that. Back when I wore a SyMax, I dropped it and the chin bar hinge broke. Full face for me from now on. The new EXO 1000 has some new vent features and an intragal flip down shade.

I have a ZEUS and it is the best fitting helmet I have ever had. Where can I buy an other one as this one is getting old?? It looks like they cost around $84.00. I bought mine in Canada and paid $350.00 I would love a new one as I must have a funny shaped head as this is the only one that has ever fit me so well. Thank You

Just a hint on the HJC helmet - I wear an XL in Sy-Max, Nolan, Zeus, Shoei, and every other brand. BUT- when I went to the Sy-Max II, and its new replacement that is on order, I had to go to the XXL size. Their padding is just a little thicker than everyone elses.....So, may want to check out sizes before you buy.
