I used Irwin Quick Grip Clamps (with rubber like jaws) to squeeze the clams for a snap. Be sure to cover the bike with a towel or something in case a clamp slips off. It would be nice to use a helper to hand you screws when ready. I had to do it alone
I did make a groove in the 2 half of the throttle clam so it would not squeeze the heater wire so tight. I used a Dremel grinder with a 3/8" grinding stone. Maybe the 09 wire was thickened

I just passed thru Lake Placid about 2 hours ago on my way home from the city of Okeechobee . Nice riding today .

Just go to Lowes or home depot and get the small clamps you activate with a trigger as it tightens up. One person is all you need, it will squeeze it totally shut and you won't have to hold it while you screw in the other parts. Easy if you just use the clamps.

Yes, what everyone else says and make sure the rubber insert fits all the way into the grove. It will make it hard to close the clamps if you don't. I like mine, a lot more comfortable on the hands.

Default Iso Grips for heated grips

I added the long chrome end weights designed as an accessory for the grips. The grips heat up fast near the inner grip but those chrome weighted ends act like heat sinks . I removed them and put the small ends on that came with the grips. Now the grips heat up fast . No vibration without the weights .

Default Minor change of subject, since we're talking about them

Scale of 1 to 5, 1 = cuts off all of heat, 5 = good transmission of heat from grips... What's been folks' experience with these grip covers?

Before I go investing in them, I'd like to read others' experiences with them. I do ride with Gerbing's G3 gloves for extended periods of time each year, but, there are times when it is nice to use the light-weight gloves --and would like some of the grip heat.

Daylight, I haven't ridden in temps colder then 40 degrees yet but they seemed to work fine. It probably takes longer for the grips to heatup, I set them on max before my hands start to get really cold. Then turn them down once they warm up. All my bikes have the iso grips because for my hands they are very comfortable. The clamshell grips have a bigger diameter then the regular iso grips but I have large hands and they work well for me. Hope this helps. Ron

I had problems with mounting these as well. After I mounted the first one with great difficulty and no clamps I reread the instructions. The second grip I mounted the rubber sleeve into one of the clamshells making sure everything was seated. Then I sliped the rubber grip with one clamshell attached onto the grip on the bike. Once I was satisified everyrhing was seated exactly I placed the other clamshell onto the grip again seating every thing. I cant explain why but everything fit with little additional effort. The instruction I had said to place one side on the rubber sleeve and then place the sleeve on the bike. I don't know why this made a difference but it. Good Luck

I have had mine on for about 2 yrs. They take a little longer to heat up but other than that they work good.
