Default My new Hannigan light bar

Just got back from having my Hannigan lights installed. I also had them connected as "dual purpose" which means they function as run/brake lights. Not for everybody I know but Mama likes 'em!

Ron, someone mentioned the lights were available with a red or clear lense. Just wondering if you might have heard that when you had yours put on. They look good!!!!!

Hey Jerry - they are available with red lens or with a clear lens and red LEDs. The original batch of lights had bulbs, not LEDs. I think there were only a few of these made (according to the salesperson at Hannigan). The installers at the factory said mine was the first set of the new lights using LEDs. Dimensions, etc. are identical - they just elected to use LEDs instead of bulbs.

Mine also is the first with the "dual purpose" feature - that is the lights function as run and brake lights. (I guess that's true unless someone who installed the original lights converted them themselves.) I think they have the final version set now. They were testing and fine-tuning their installation instructions as they were installing mine. I assume these are available to everyone now. They told me they were designed for the owner to self-install. Of course, your installer can put them in too.

My wife has gone crazy about adding lights on the trike so these just had to happen.

They look great. How much did they cost? I don't see anything about them on their website.

Did they come dual purpose or did you have to pay extra for a configuration?

Yep $545 is the cost. They are color matched. If you get them installed at the factory they charge $50 but are designed to be self installed. The dual purpose brake/run feature was an additional $74 at the factory.

I'm not really sure they are actually offering the dual purpose feature but I think they are.

If the info is not on the web site, you can call the factory. I happened to see them when my kit was being installed at the factory in January - they had just finished the design phase then.

My rep at Hannigan stated that the dual function they did for you was custom because it was one of the first ones, and they did it there at the factory....so you were kind of a guinea pig. He confirmed that they are not offering these lights as run/brake to the dealers or the public. They designed them to be plug & play and as easy an installation as possible for retro-fits, which limits them to running light only. Obviously anyone willing to take the time and spend the $ to make them dual function it can be done, but that is not how Hannigan is selling them or recommending they be done.

Thanks for clarifying that triketrader. I kinda got that impression from the installer and other guys there. Several of the Hannigan employees were really interested in how the run/brake thing worked - everyone wanted a look before I left for the ride home. I knew the installer designed the relay to make it happen. He told me I was the "only one in the world" with that setup at the moment. The run/brake wasn't really my idea either - when I ordered them during my trike install they mentioned they were working on that option so I said I wanted it.

They look good Now that they offer LEDs I may have to reconsider my original position on them. JMHO, I think they should be offered as "dual" purpose from the get-go.
I'm soooooooo ready for spring
