I just tested that - didn't put keys in trunk, but it did lock.

Ken,

You got that right!

Thanks! I haven't tested this for myself, but it sounds logical.

I stuck my remote in a drawer when I first got the bike and there it will stay until I sell the bike.

TIA!

It comes with the bike, why not use the features?

Kurt,

I appreciate your kind concern about me enjoying my bike to the maximum extent possible.

However, most bikers I know pride themselves on being independent thinkers.......who enjoy "going against the flow."

Although I've strong opinions on the topics you've addressed, I respect you as a brother biker enough to politely and discreetly keep them to myself.

......now, if I could just get rid of that danged driveshaft and that blasted liquid cooling!

There are likely a number of suitable places where you could safely and discreetly zip tie a spare key to use for emergencies (such as having a senior moment and losing, locking the key in the trunk, etc.). Just remember to carry something w/which you can cut the zip tie.

All good suggestions...just another option. When I had my last new tire mounted I put 3 new spare keys inside my wheel and as a added bonus they act just like Dyna Beads and balance the tire. Key and wobble problem solved. Sometimes ya just gotta think outside the box.

Default I do not know if this will work or not, you may want to try it.

I read somewhere a long time ago of a guy who locked his keys in his car, called his wife on his cell phone and had her use the remote and push the unlock button holding it against the telephone receiver thereby transmitting the sound to the cell phone held next to the lock.
Thereby unlocking the lock via the signal sent.
Like I said, I have never tried this myself.

This was busted some time ago by MythBusters, the cell phone can't modulate the RF frequency that the car remote is sending because it is out of the range of the audio amplifier in the cell phone. It would be nice if it could.
