Default 2009 Goldwing

Honda Motor Company today announced its plans for the new 2009 GL-2000 Goldwing touring bike. The new Goldwing will replace the industry-leading GL-1800 Goldwing which went into production in 2001.

The 2009 GL-2000 Goldwing will feature a larger 2.0 litre (2000 cc) 6-cylinder engine matched to a new 6-speed transmission. Honda claims the new engine will produce 165 horsepower and 157 foot pounds of torque. "This new powerplant and transmission should provide the kind of power and torque Goldwing owners have come to expect" a company official says. With the new 6-speed transmission, the 2.0 liter engine turns only 2,500 rpm at 70 miles per hour.

The new Goldwing will increase the safety of its riders with standard ABS brakes on all 2009 models. A rider airbag is also available as an option on the level 4 model.

The 2009 GL-2000 will be offered in the following configurations:

Standard features on all 2009 GL-2000 Goldwing models:

- New 2000cc 6-cylinder engine with 6-Speed transmission
- Linked ABS brakes (front and rear)
- Dramatically improved suspension with adjustable pre-load front and rear
- 6.9 gallon fuel capacity
- Adjustable seat (can be raised/lowered up to 1.5 inches) and rider backrest can be moved forward/backward.
- Adjustable windscreen (electronically adjustable is optional)
- Cargo capacity has been increased to 45 liters per saddlebag and 65 litres for the trunk.
- Heated handgrips and heated seat
- L.E.D. tail/brake lights and lighted trunk spoiler
- New instrument cluster includes speedo/tach/engine temp/voltage/ambient temp/gear indicator/tire pressure/trip computer (see below)
- DC Accessory Outlet in dash glovebox
- Trip Computer displays: Miles to Empty/Avg Miles Per Gallon/Current Miles Per Gallon
-Intercom features improved audio quality and passenger volume/on/off switch
-Honda Warranty 3-year Unlimited Miles (up to 4 year optional extended warranty)

BASE MODEL - includes comfort package (heated handgrips and seat), ABS brakes front and rear, 85-watt 4-speaker stereo with MP3/iPod connector.

COMFORT PACKAGE - includes BASE model features + electonically controlled windscreen, Homelink remote garage door opener, integrated anti-theft device.
$20,499

PREMIUM PACKAGE- includes all comfort package features + 120-watt 4-speaker stereo with MP3/iPod connection/optional XM/SIRIUS radio/Bluetooth capability, Electronic tire pressure monitoring system, integrated NAVI navigation system with Bluetooth remote programming capability using MapSource and compatible laptop, integrated fog/driving lights, HID Xenon headlights.

SAFETY PLUS PACKAGE - includes all PREMIUM features + Rider SRS Airbag restraint system, rear-end collision proximity alert system, electonically controlled cruise control.

In addition, the completely re-designed Goldwing offers owners lower maintenance costs with easier access to regular maintenance areas such as air cleaner, oil drain plug, oil filter and oil dipstick. A quick-remove engine protector plate has also been added to guard the oil pan from potential damage caused my road debris.

Can anyone explain to me why anyone would think that Honda would retool the Marysville plant to run for just a few months before shutting it down for good. Honda is NOT going to transport the tools and machines back over to Japan. IF we are lucky we will see a new Gold Wing in 2010. It could be even longer if the economy doesn't improve so sales of motorcycle will improve.

This is about the 80th time this "Official Release" has been posted herein and other places. I believe the original Urban Legend of this news began somewhere back in 1989. One must submit facts of origin, links to the "Official Honda Announcement" lest one be left with egg on face and an empty tale of smoke 'n mirrors. Now...if this true, your source of sage wisdom would be........?

Default USE YOUR HEAD NO NEW 2009 JUST OLD 2008 , MOVING TO JAPAN

The gas tank is too small now and I think the bags need to be a bit bigger, and it will not be made here in the usa, too set up the re tool in the usa would not be smart at all. This new gold wing that honda is telling us is a setup and not a new 2009 but a move to japan land the new bike will be in 2010. Thay will make the late 2008 bike to be 2009 and all new bike in 2010 in japan-land. if HD make a water cool bike witch thay will, EPA will make them some day and add more hp witch thay will with water cooled bike, and it will not run so hot and not sell for a arm and a leg for it , and make the ultra 2-3 in. longer HD may be the place to go? it will take two or three years for honda to work out all the small things on the new bike. The bike to get will be the 2013 honda!! mark my words...

2010 will be the new year for a larger 3/4 ton Honda GL2000HOGLTD. They are only going to make 16 of them for this planet. The rest are going to be sent to a secret holding place aboard the new Honda XTPBS space shuttle.
They will be using an updated GPS system from Garmin named "Holywolly" to reach their destination just east of the new solar system Honda and Harley Davidson are going to discover when they merge and close the Marysville plant.
I found all this out on the internet when I did a search for "what is al gore up to next"
Don't believe me do the search!!!!

Nice try but that link is to another message board and if you read the thread that you linked to, the originator of that post later links to this message board as his source.

Give it up. Nobody is going to believe anything until it shows up at the dealers show, and Hal reports it, or it shows up on the showroom floor.

But, I do like the story. Prices too. Would trade my 07 in. But, as with everyone else, I must wait for a confirming sighting.

It's amazing to me that so many people will "buy" into scams on a daily basis. All the Nigerian "lottery" schemes and such. But the reason the rdiculous schemes keep perpetuating themselves in one form or another is that there are PEOPLE WHO FALL FOR THEM!!!!

Even on forums such as these, people are quick to pass on information that is not verifiable or reliable. Why? All it seems to show is how gullible some people are.

As a former media relations specialist I subscribe to the philosphy that only about 10 percent of what I hear (or read on the Internet) is accurate and only about half of what I read anywhere can be trusted as completely factual. I'm sure Al Gore hoped for better when he "invented the Internet".
My bad...some folks out there probably believed that one too!
