Default Darksider....Tire Pressure????

I went to the Darkside last week. Put on rear a Bridgestone Potenza 195/55/R16 & rode about 100 miles so far. Love every part of the ride but am curious of what proper air pressure should be. I see many different tires on hear stating they run 29-45 lbs. How do I know what pressure is correct for my particular tire?

If you look at the side wall there should be a "maximum cold pressure" number. In order for tires to run cooler and wear more evenly run that pressure. If no numbers exist then call Bridgestones tech support line.

Most run flat CTs' will give even wear for the life of the tire at about 30 pounds and still maintain their shape. The loading on the tire is not the same as a car so what is written on the side really doesn't apply...However, because of the outstanding miles achieved some go a little higher at 32 pounds for a little easier steering. The non run-flats need a higher pressure around low to mid 40s' to maintain tire shape and not have a wobbly feel. The downside is you don't have the comfort of the run-flat aspect...

Most DSs' play around with pressures for a while but this generally is the conclusions....One other thing TPMS are recommended on run flat tires... Heres a link to a poll we had a while back which may help....Cheers....

Here is another link where the Potenza is discussed. Looks like 40 psi might be a good place to start.

I have used both run-flat and non run-flat car tires on the back of my 1800 and have become a firm believer in inflating them between 27-33 PSI. Some like more, few like less.

Start with some air in the tire and adjust to your liking.

Default Potenza

I have a 205/55/16 potenza NRF and I went the opposite direction starting from 35 I went down to 28 before it felt right. I prefer the RF for normal riding but the NRF is still in the garage. The NRF felt loose at high speeds (100+) and strange in bumpy or uneven corners at highway speeds. Being from OKC you understand the rough roads we ride on here. For a road trip especially with the trailer I wouldnt hesitate to put it on and head out the NRF seemed to settle down more with the added weight of a passenger or my trailer.

Kumho, 195/55/16, non-run flat here. Running 40 lbs feels good. Have not gone beyond the 40 lbs.
