The instructions for installing the Genuine honda (led) fog lights step #13 and # 14 require removal of the left cowl trim mold and left pocket and removal of audio switch panel. I dont have a service manual reference to instructions for removing the left trim mold and audio switch cover on the 2012 models. I did the installation on my previous owned 2005 with little difficulty.Since the 2012 model changed the cowl mold beside the left pocket I am hesitant to proceed without knowing the correct procedure for removal being aware of breaking plastic tabs etc. Please advise as to the difficulty of removal ..Thanks in advance....

The removal of the trim piece is shown on page 128 of the owners manual.

The bottom black portion snaps in to clips. Start by prying up the bottom black portion using a flat screwdriver and protecting the paint with a cloth.
The sides of the trim pieces are removed the same way as previous Goldwings working from bottom to top.

I found it easier to remove the top portion first where it comes in contact w/speaker grille. Just pry the corner up where it protrudes into grille and work yourself back from there. Ive taken mine off several times works great. I tried the lower portion first and its seems a lot harder to me and not as flexable.Hope it works for you. The hardest part will be dividing the circuit box and installing switch and trying to get all those wires re-routed and snap back together. It just takes time so be patient.

i found it easier to remove the glove box first. pop the pins in the 4 corners and you;ll se that the trim strip will pop up by itself. that wsa for iinstalling the lighter socket...i've not done your mod yet.

I saw this done on Saturday. I agree to start with the top. The bottom pieces will come out by pulling straight out from the fairing. Once you get the part on the outside(left of the fairing) removed, you should be able to gently pry using a flat-head screwdriver while protecting the paint with a towel. Getting the wires routed in the circuit box looked like an exercise in patience.

Two additional questions, does the earlier year cowl (with the round openings) fit? Don't like the round light/ square hole look and how do you route the cable from the foglight switch? I tried all different ways of getting it to fit but there only seems to be notches for the existing wiring, did anyone make a new notch or hole for the new wiring?

I use my fingernails and start at the bottom, if you start at the top, you could break the little tab off the slips under the top of the fairing. Honda meant for you to start at the bottom and just pull the trim straight away from the fairing. Simple.

Hi Jimmy...I just installed the switch for the fog lights. What a thrill getting to the connector for the relay harness in that hidden boot. I was able to slide the boot up and insert the plug from the neck of the clear boot and flip the connectors upside down so the wires are a straight shot out of the neck. I got the switch from Lewis installed. I think I see a hidden channel in the plastic controller box to route the wire out. This is like laproscopic surgery. I am convinced Honda hates us :nojoke::lol:.

I'm trying do the same install. Instructions say

"12. Remove the switch cover on the back of the control panel"
"13. Remove the two screws holding the switch hole cover to the control panel"

I can't figure out what #13 is talking about. Because next step

"14. Install the switch using the screws remove from the previous step."

Please advise if you know what to remove/plug into here.

I figured it out. One of the screws to the control panel was hidden by the main wiring harness connection to the control panel. I had to use the just the switch and the jumper plug to get lights to work. Jumper plug put into the bigger four pin connector. Small 4-pin connector goes to the aux wiring harness on the bike which is inside that very large plastic boot tucked down in the left side below the control panel area.

The fog lights are always on when the control button is on (even when high beams off).
