Year of your bike and year of maps ? I think you have an 2006 -2010 . Depends on whether you are going to get it from Honda or roll your own .

 

Yes bike is a 2007, and would prefer to get it from Honda if they are still producing them.
Was never a big fan of rolling my own, too much work & messy.

 

2008 here.
Updated a couple of years ago. I seem to recall seeing on the site I ordered it from that there would be no more updates.

Garmin City Navigator NT is the map set I got loaded in my GPS, which is not the actual FW to update the system.

Latest FW is 5.1 to the best of my knowledge.

My 2007 is loaded with FW5.1 and Garmin city Navigator NT 2021.10 mapset, same maps for my car and truck

With the FW update, the POI search and search by address is not functional.

You can load any Garmin City Navigator NT mapset on GPS.

I don't think Honda will ever have any more updates for these bikes.

I think i have the 2018 update on my 08 goldwing but you can only use it as a map. not enough room for a complete update.

The latest release from Garmin is City Navigator 2022.10. Which was April 2021

There are also opensource maps you can use. Another site for Garmin Maps Not sure if these work with any firmware version.

Latest US firmware is 5.1. Canadian bikes may have a 2.something firmware and a hard reset is necessary to update it to 5.1 for the NT maps. Not hard, messy or a lot of work to get current. If I could do it anyone can.

There is no reason an older bike can't run the newest maps. The POI that are lost aren't worth having anyway at this point. Half the Honda dealers they show are gone here in Canada. Having POI disabled might be a blessing vs.5 year old maps.

 

FYI: I just updated my 2020 NT map to 2022.10.

I had to resize the US map down below 2Gb, just the East coast for now since I don't plan on trips anywhere, full mapset will cause system to not show anything from the updated map.

Can't remember for sure but, I know for a fact that POI sesrch by name did not work, only Honda dealership showed up.

Can't remember if search POI by distance worked or not but, now it's working with this update map.

System is showing map as April 2020. I'll eventually get another CF card to load the West Coast mapset, just in case I get to retire and travel that way.

 

This looks to be an excellent post on updating 2012-2017 bikes that kinda got buried in another thread. Since the thread title is generic, someone may find it useful.
